The Portfolio Becoming a Mathematician

As you build your portfolio, you will show that you have grown as a mathematician and a problem-solver this year by demonstrating certain habits of thinking.

THE HABITS
-looking for patterns -solving a similar problem -being systematic -staying organized -visualizing -experimenting through conjectures -being confident, patient, and persistent -collaborating and listening -seeking why and proving it

SUPPLIES
-a 3-ring binder (at least 1 inch) -12 dividers (feel free to make your own)

WHAT YOULL PUT IN YOUR BINDER


-Every Friday -pick something you did that week that shows you were using one of the habits -fill out a hand-out explaining your choice -Every Marking Period -summarize your work so far -your portfolio will be reviewed by you, a classmate, me, and a family member

GRADING
-it counts for 5% of your grade -graded based on completion, thoughtfulness, and evidence of growth at the end of each marking period
