Marianne Wilkinson Councillor, Kanata North Ward Council Meets Monday, March 26th 7:15 p.m.

, Mlacak Centre, 2500 Campeau Drive, Hall D The Kanata North Ward Council is composed of representatives from organizations in or serving Kanata North. If your organization would like to have a designated member please contact my office. You are encouraged to bring forward information from your organization of interest to the community and provision is made in the agenda for this to occur. All meetings of the Council are open to everyone and many of the agenda items will be of particular interest to residents in certain parts of Kanata North. During the election campaign I promised to have a public meeting on every development proposal that comes forward. This will often be done as a part of a Ward Council meeting, with special meetings held when needed. Each meeting also includes an update by myself on what is happening in the City and in our community, a report from our Community Policing Officer, special issues as well as an opportunity for anyone to make comments or suggestions. Planning Issues at Ward Council March 26th There will be presentations on two developments coming to our community. The first is on the site plan for the Liberty Assisted Living retirement residence that is to be built at the corner of Campeau and Knudson in the Kanata Town Centre. This residence will have 200 units and feature underground parking, an indoor pool and extensive landscaping. The second is an interesting development in the Kanata North Business Park at 300 Terry Fox Drive, near the Marshes development. Called the Chambers, this is a business condominium development of ten units, each three stories high, designed for small business and professional offices. Other developments, presently being reviewed by City staf, will also be presented. These are three new businesses in the Centrum (the Philthy McNasty restaurant, Scores restaurant and Hockey Life sports store), and an application to amend the official plan and zoning by-law for a development at 280 Didsbury (beside Canadian Tire) for a 5 storey self-storage buildilng, retail warehouse and drivethrough restaurant or retail store. An update will be provided on plans submitted last year for developments on Didsbury of a new Loblaws and a Hulse, Playfair, McGarry funeral parlour and crematorium. Sidewalk Proposal

A sidewalk is proposed for Leacock Drive in front of Stephen Leacock Public School. Details will be available at the Ward Council Meeting. Graffiti Graffiti on both public and private property has been increasingly found in Kanata. It is very costly to taxpayers, businesses and individuals to remove what is often very derogatory remarks, sometimes in different languages. The Briarbrook/Morgan's Grant Community Association has taken up the challenge to rid their community of graffiti. They will be making a presentation on their program at the Ward Council meeting and challenging other community associations to participate. Fraud Month Identity theft is a growing problem in Canada. One way in which you can protect your identity is to shred any personal or sensitive information.
