KANATA NORTH NEWS Marianne Wilkinson Councillor, Kanata North MORE ON TRANSIT

By the time you read this we will have a much better handle on how bus service is working in Kanata and Stittsville. All local routes except the 162 are running as well as the 600 school routes, the 96, 118 and 101. No express buses are yet in service. I am continuing to press for at least a few express buses to supplement the 96 so please check the OC Transpo website regularly to see what changes have been made. I am also pushing for a temporary park and ride in the Kanata North Business Park and changes to the 101. For residents of Morgans Grant and Briarbrook the 101 is within walking distance. It was designed to bring employees into the business park and then deadheads back. I feel that it could also work in reverse and provide a service to commuters. Im working with OC Transpo to see what can be done. Check the route and times on the OC Transpo website to see if this will help in your commute. Last Monday I was at the Terry Fox and Eagleson Park and Rides to see the situation first hand and speak to commuters. I will be continuing to do this most days to ensure that Im fully aware of the issues faced by commuters from our area. For pass holders with a December bus pass you will be able to use a regular pass until the end of March and an express pass until the end of April. Eco pass holders will have the same length of time without payment being taken. Details are on the OC Transpo website. If youd rather get cash back for that pass you can go to any client service centre or OC Transpo ticket location (valid ID is required.) If you are unable to get to a Client Service Centre or sales centre in person, fill out the back of the pass with your contact information including postal code, and mail in for a refund to: OC Transpo, Attention Finance Dept., 1500 St. Laurent Blvd., Ottawa ON, K1G 0Z8. Please Note: Refunds will only be available until Feb 15th.
