News Release 07 September 2012

DASURECO avails of NGCPs free linemans training for electric coops As part of its capability-building partnership programs with power customers, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) continues to offer its comprehensive linemans training modules to electric cooperatives nationwide. Davao del Sur Electric Cooperative, Inc. (DASURECO) availed of NGCPs free course on August 9-10 2012. As in past courses, lecturers and resource persons were from NGCPs regional and district operation and maintenance groups. Hands-on trainings and demonstration on hotline maintenance activities and safety procedures were also part of the two-day course for around 30 linemen at the DASURECO Headquarters in Digos City, Davao del Sur. Among those who graced the program were DASURECO General Manager Godofredo Guya, Board of Director President Rodrigo Sacedor, Board of Director Jaime Ruat, and Board of Director Douglas Corpuz. NGCP was represented by Mindanao District 5 Head of Operation and Maintenance Adolfo Mirasol and Chief Transmission Engineer Allan Parinas. NGCP is the countrys only power transmission service provider and system operator. It operates and maintains high-voltage transmission lines, substations, and other facilities in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. DASURECO, which distributes electricity in Davao del Sur, is one of NGCPs grid customers. Although the linemans training program is designed for electric cooperatives who acquired 69-kiloVolt lines or sub-transmission lines, it is available even to distribution utilities not acquiring sub-transmission facilities. NGCP can customize its training modules to accommodate utilities who want to upgrade its personnels capabilities. The transmission company conducts the training for free and provides the training modules and services of expert resource persons. NGCP welcomes the growing interest of DUs and electric cooperatives in the training program, which was conceptualized to assist in the capability-building of customers as part of NGCPs efforts to enhance customer relations. Working together with electric cooperatives to upgrade line maintenance skills is expected to result to faster restoration time, shorter power interruptions and overall improvement in power reliability and security. ### (photos on the next page)
