Text Set: The Civil Rights Movement

For this text set about the Civil Rights, I gathered all of the selections from Joyner Librarys Teaching Resources Center. This section in Joyner Library has a great area called the Ronnie Barnes African-American Resource Collection, which houses books about and by African-Americans. Though not all of the following titles came from the Ronnie Barnes Collection, it is a useful place to look if trying to find books about the Civil Rights. As stated earlier, this text set revolves around the Civil Rights Movement that occurred in the United States during the 1950s and 1960s. The primary text was Freedom on the Menu: The Greensboro Sit-Ins. After reading that book, the other texts were selected specifically because they dealt with an important topic surrounding the Civil Rights. The book genres include biographical, historical fiction, and poetry.
