Jordan Johnson Text Set 1

In order to find a group of rich books relating to my group literature circle book I researched and wondered around the Teacher Resource Room exploring various ideas about how to extend or connect various texts to, How to Clean A Hippopotamus. I had a view ideas that I wanted to think about when pointing tying books into our literature circle book which helped guide me in certain directions of the library. I also asked for a bit of help to find books I was interested in or genres. Since How to Clean a Hippopotamus is a nonfiction book providing children with beautiful illustrations and facts about different relationships animals share I began my search in the easy read animal section. This is where I found various books that had similar topics, writing styles, and messages as Steve Jenkins and Robins Pages How to Clean a Hippopotamus. My First book is Amazing Mammals, a nonfiction graphic childrens book that I thought tied into allowing a reader to recognize similar writing styles. This book has real life pictures of mammals with short facts about specific mammals on each page. A second choice I found is Two Bobbies a true story about a cat and a dog working together to survive Hurricane Katrina. This connection was made to the symbiotic relationships that animals make in order to live successfully or easily. I thought that this storybook showed another example of animals taking symbiotic relationships to a more relatable story about friendship and helping each other out. Another selection I found is The Monkey and the Mango, a fiction book that connects to our literature circle book because it touches on the similar message about the importance of the many connections among all living things. My final and fourth book I chose to connect to the text is Life-Size Aquarium, a similarly written style book as Steve Jenkins, Actual Size. I thought this book was similar in providing students with fun animal facts while displaying awesome real measurements of the animals it describes.
