August Newsletter

August Issue 2012

A message from our Director Lesley Massey

Even as the season changes we will remember having such a lovely summer with great weather. The childrens gardens are growing well and the children are getting out on walks and getting to know the community. The field trips at Splash have been interesting, fun and there are more to come. This summer was extremely expensive. We need your support to help fundraise so that we can continue to have a great program at Splash. Please consider this the next time you are asked to sell tickets. the Enrichment Centre team as our new Team Leader. She was a Director in her other centre and must give 4 weeks notice. She starts August 27, 2012. and we hope she can somehow return next year! We will also see some children leaving and some coming over from the Enrichment Centre. As the season changes we are growing and changing at both centres. People tell us our centres are lovely, clean and organized and our staff are friendly and caring. Our children enjoy their great curriculum. Together as a team we can continue to be the best we can be, provide the best early learning and child care and create a stimulating environment where children love to learn, care about each other and the world in which they live.

Front page thank you!!

We would like to thank all the parents and children of Splash for being on time everyday for the summer. Being on time ensures a fun and safe summer. We always ask our families to be on time to help make sure that when we are ready for field trips we have everyone accounted for and that we are not taking extra time to get prepared to leave. We would also like to thank parents for calling ahead and making arrangements with the staff for those times that you are late or have an appointment. This is the best way to keep us informed and then we can include your children on our fieldtrips without compromising the safety of our children.

Upcoming fieldtrips
We are now in our second month of the summer and that means more fieldtrips! This months fieldtrips are as follows: 8th: Folklorama @ Garden Grove 14th: Wolves @ Kildonan Park / Splash @ St. Johns Library 16th: Scarecrow Forest 20th: Garden Park Exchange & Picnic @ MFRC 21st: A Maze in Corn 30th: Wind up @ Assiniboine Park

Folklorama: Greece
Every year we at splash teach the children about diversity of different cultures. We do this by having the children participate in Folklorama. This years country that we are learning about is the country of Greece. We chose this country because it is currently in this years London Olympic games. We do this every year to take part of Folklorama and to show our children the wonders of culture and the world around us. For our chosen country we have various activities and crafts for the children and a nice Greek lunch. We also have another centre visiting and taking part of our festivities. That centre is Garden Groove daycare. We welcome them to This years country that we are our centre for Folklorama learning about is the country of

Greece.

Fundraising news
Every year we do our best to make sure we have great opportunities for our children and one of the major ways we do this is by holding fundraisers at both of our centres. Coming up in September we will be holding a meat raffle for both centres. Please watch for future fundraisers in your newsletter and posted in the centre.
