CLEANING THE CAPITAL

Spring seems to have arrived early this year. With the melting of the snow litter begins to emerge and to keep our communities clean and attractive the City seeks the support of people across the City.

Residents in Kanata North have been a great help in looking after our community from groups that have adopted streets and parks to those who carry a bag with them on walks to pick up any litter on the way to those who participate in the Spring and Fall Cleaning the Capital; and thats why Im asking you to participate by registering for the Spring Cleaning the Capital. Individuals, schools, community groups, churches and other groups can register at ottawa.ca/clean and they will receive cleaning supplies and graffiti removal materials. Once youve completed your task make sure to report the results and youll be eligible for prizes provided by sponsors and Kanata North can again compete for the prestigious Ward Award. This award goes to the ward with the highest participation ratio. Kanata North has won it four times since 2006 but in 2011 the award went to Kanata South in the spring and Gloucester-South Nepean in the fall. Lets all get out to beautify our communities and return the award to Kanata North! Let me know when and where youll be participating and when available Ill join you.

NEW HEADS OF POLICE, LIBRARY AND EMERGENCY SERVICES

The City of Ottawa has appointed Charles Bordeleau as Chief of Police, Danielle McDonald (a Beaverbrook resident) as Chief Executive Officer of the Ottawa Public Library and Pierre Poirier as the new Chief of Security and Emergency Management. Each of these individuals is well qualified and was promoted from within, having benefited from the Citys ongoing training programs for staff. Congratulations to each of these outstanding individuals.

WATERMAIN REPAIRS
City crews will be undertaking a watermain repair on Eagleson Road during the week of April 2 for 3 to 5 days. Water service will not be interrupted and is expected to be available throughout the repair. Residents in the Beaverbrook and Kanata Lakes areas, north of 417, east of Knudson and Westlock may experience short term water discolouration during the repair period. If that happens run your taps until the water is clear. The temporary water discolouration does not pose a health risk and the water will remain safe to drink.
