The comparison of Spirited Away and The Lion King

Director: Hayao Miyazaki Summary In the middle of her family's move to the suburbs, a stubborn 10year-old girl wonders with her parents into a world ruled by ghosts, witches, and monsters; where humans are changed into animals; and a bathhouse for these creatures is the main attraction for miles. Chihiro has to get a job to be able to save her parents and escape the ghost world. Chihrio learns that she has to take reasonability of the well fair of her parents and herself while adapting to life in that world and the real one. The film has a mixture of all races and cultural backgrounds; which is outlined with the Japanese type of film showed by the names of the characters. But the American sports brands and European by the car they drive.

Director: Roger Allers, Rob Minkoff Summary The Lion King presents the story of a lion cub's journey to adulthood and acceptance of his destiny. Simba begins life as an honoured prince, the son of the respected King Mufasa.

The cub's happy childhood turns tragic when his evil uncle, Scar, murders Mufasa and drives Simba away from the kingdom. In selfexile, the young lion befriends the pair of Pumbaa the warthog and Timon the meerkat, he lives a carefree life in the jungle. As he approaches adulthood, however, he is visited by the spirit of his father, who instructs him to defeat the nefarious Scar and reclaim his rightful throne. The Walt Disney Logo wishes the viewers to have a magical time watching the film. The film outline the respect and responsibilities of what samba has to do. Even though the film is set in an Africa flatland, the characters are still of a American origin. This film could teach a child to be able to take reasonability & maybe able to deal with loses within a family or friend. It also shows that good friends can be reliable in any situation. It also features humor that only adults would know from other older films. The expected audience of a cartoon is of children but there are exceptions to this e.g Family Guy and American Dad. The anime of Spirited away has the mixture of a cartoon for children and the keeping interest for the adult watchers. The expected consumptions of the film spirited away is to be bought on DVD whereas the lion king has a wider audience that would watch it in the cinema and it even spreads into the theater and has been rereleased in 3D in the cinema to keep making more money from the viewers. As films being watch as a family, the parents would see that the children wouldnt understand the complex plot of Spirited Away e.g there isnt really any clear binary oppositions because all the characters are made to have nice fazes whereas The Lion King is a lot more enjoyable because of the simplicity of characters and the roles that they play e.g binary oppositions of good samba & bad uncle scar, Samba does overcome Scar because that is what is expected in a Disney film. Both films have the equilibrium theory of Todorov, but in sprited away Chihiro is already upset because of the moving process away from her home, with the recognition of disequilibrium is when her parents have changed into pigs and she has to trust Haku to help her escape. The attempt to repair it is when Chihiro gets a job to be able to save her parents and escape the ghost world. The equilibrium is back when Chihiro finds her parents normally and make there way back to the new house. Whereas equilibrium is where Simba is just living out his life as a young loin cub. Disequilibrium finds itself when Mufasa is

killed, recognition isnt found until Simba is older and he is told his kingdom is in a dire way. The attempt to repair it is when Simba confronts Scar with the conclusion that samba gets back his rightful kingdom which leaves the film in equilibrium. From the two films you as the audience you would expect some cultural codes but there isnt any real clear between the two.
