LINC NEWSLETTER

12th September 2012

LINC Community meeting Thursday 27th September 8.00pm. This is an opportunity for you to shape what happens in LINC. A chance to socialise while getting an understanding of what LINC is. We need your support and input so please come along.

The F-Word is back! Thursday nights during late LINC. This week we will have a massage taster with Maya. Find out what therapeutic massage can do for you and avail of a massage taster, 6.30 start. Next week we have auricular acupuncture with Stephaniecost 10 euro per person. In the coming weeks we will have mindfulness meditation, Thai cooking with Pia, poetry with Julie and lots more! A full Autumn schedule will be available at the community meeting on the 27th September. New Peer Support Group A new support group for lesbian and bisexual women will be commencing on the 4th October. The aim of the group is to allow people to share their experiences, participate in discussion in a safe space. If you feel you have an issue you would like support on or if you feel you have experience you can share this is the group for you. The group will run from 6pm-7pm on Thursdays and will be facilitated.

Lesbian Line now runs from 6-8 on Wednesdays 021-4318318 THE National LGT helpline is open from 6pm-9pm on Wednesdays, 4pm-9pm Thursday/Friday and 4pm-6pm on sat Sunday 1890929539 LINC are once again on the trail for Culture Night, Friday 21st September from 6pm till 9pm. We are having an arty tea party! Cupcakes kindly supplied by The Cupcake Cottageyummy. What's On This Week: Badminton every Tuesday in Carrigtwohill at 8.00pm contact Nicky on 0868479051 for details. Late LINCdrop-in until 8.00pm Thursdays. UP Youth Group. Up are starting up again next week. Registration takes place on Wednesday 12th September in LINC from 6pm 8pm.

Golf Outing Saturday October 6th Its time to get together and have some fun again on the golf courseso for all you golfers out there (experienced or wannabes) come and sign up in LINC. Venue: Water Rock Golf Club Date: Saturday October 6th Time: 10am Cost: 35euro Payment must be made in full by Friday September 28th to LINC Sligo Lesbian Health Conference- 5th & 6th October, Great Southern Hotel. This conference aims at providing a holistic approach to lesbian sexual health. There are a range of workshops and talks to suit everybody. Parenting, menopause, lezzer lady gardening and dyke drama are just a few of the topics being broached. More details are available on their Facebook page

Workshops at LINC. Registration is required for both workshops (email tina@linc.ie), while there is no charge for either a donation is welcome. Take control of your life. Monday 1st and Monday 7th October 7pm9.30 pm. These workshops look at resilience, stress and support systems in an interactive manner to help you identify your strengths, change the weather in your head and build a positive set of resources. The workshops are facilitated by Pauline O Reilly. Spirituality Workshop Saturday 20th October 10am 4pm. We had great feedback from this workshop when we ran it at the beginning of the year. The workshop is suitable for those who participated in the last workshop and newcomers alike. This workshop is facilitated by Anne Kelleher.

Parents & Children Meet and Greet We are having a Parent & Children meet and greet on Saturday the 13th of October from 2pm to 4pm in LINC. This is an opportunity for parents in our community to come together to form a group and discuss what LINC can do to support them. Kids will be supervised by an approved childcare worker with fun and games. If you wish to attend and if the date doesnt suit please email karla@linc.ie to express interest.

Choir. Mna Mna, the choir resumes after LATE LINC on 4th October. This is a drop-in choir, so just come along and enjoy. We are delighted to welcome Breda Larkin as guest choir mistress for October and November.

Book club. The book club resumes on Tuesday 25th September at 7.30pm.
