Background on Euro IV
The ban on sub-Euro 4 trucks in London from 3rd January 2012 was announced about three years ago, during Ken Livingstones tenure as Mayor of London. However, the initiative is now supported cross-party. If you want to drive a lorry or other specialist heavy diesel vehicle in the Low Emission Zone (LEZ) without paying a daily charge, it needs to meet certain emissions standards. At the moment, these vehicle types need to meet the Euro III standard for particulate matter (PM). However, from 3 January 2012, these standards are changing to Euro IV for PM, so even if your vehicle meets the current rules, you may need to take action soon to meet the new standards in time. It doesnt matter whether your vehicle is used for commercial or private purposes - it will still need to meet the standards. The age and weight of a vehicle indicate the level of particulate matter (PM) it produces. If your vehicle doesnt meet the emissions standards, there are a number of things you can do. Some options can take up to three months to complete, so act now. Fit a filter Replace a vehicle Reorganise your fleet Convert to gas Pay the daily charge

Dont let the law, the weather, or the Bank slow your business down this winter.
Winter, the time when motorways get blocked and the news is sprinkled with the cost to the economy when a few inches of snow land.
This winter we are faced with changing emission laws whatever the weather, so now is the time to prepare.

Britains big freeze

As if the legislation wasnt enough to deal with, operators look to be faced with another big freeze, with experts warning snow could have fallen as early as October. That of course didnt happen, though the winter of 2010-2011 was a weather event which brought heavy snowfalls and record low temperatures which caused travel chaos and school disruptions to Britain. It was the coldest winter in Britain for 31 years with an average temperature of 1.51C
