RECESSIONAL “Praise ye the Lord” Psalms 150:6Obituary
Alberta LaSaine Williams was born in Georgetown, South
Caroling May 26, 1914. She was the first daughter of Kalie Lino
and James Laaine. There she completed her secular education at
the Heward High School
In 1936 she came to New York and became a member of the
Bethel AME, Church under the pastorate of Rev. Portlock. Shortly
thereafter, she went to Winston Salem, North Carolina and on
August 27, 1940, she was united in Holy Matrimony with Herbert L.
Williams. OF this union was born five children.
In 1943, she returned to New York. Here in 1951 she accepted
the Lord as her personal saviour and became a member of the
Overcoming Church of God in Christ, under the Pastorate of Bishop
M,C. Monk. There she served faithfully until she decided 10 join the
First Church of God in Christ, then located at 1745 Pacific St., under
the Pastcrate of Bishop F. Clemmons in January 1964.
She was 2 faithful and outstanding member of the Mothers
Board, Missionary Society. God saw fit to bestow upon her the gift
of prophesy Many times she was found telling others what “thus
saith the Lord.” She was the founder and leader of @ prayer band
in the Greenpoint ares, where she held prayer services daily. She
served as Spiritual Mother and Counsellour of this group and many
thers. Many were added to the church as a result of this labor of
love in Christ. She loved souls, the depressed, the downtrodden and
broken hearted. tier delight was In helping the Tejected. She was
9 source of encouragement to people from all walks of life. The
weather was never too inclimate nor the circumstance too adverse
for her to do God's bidding. Her cveatest pleasure was “praising
God’. She was @ lively stone in the building and her voice could
often be heard above all others praising God in his sanctuary as
she was full of praises.
In August 1988, she returned to Georgetown, South Carolina
where she continued her work for God. Shorily thereafter she
became ill, but after much praysr, God performed a miracle and
‘gave her @ speedy recovery. She was able to return to New York in
‘May 1969 for the merch into the New First Church of God in Christ
‘and again in September of the same yeer. Once again she repeatedly
admonished the Saints to “Praise God”.
