Innovation should not just focus on resolving problems of the rich; it must focus on lifting the quality of life of the poor sections of the society. We need to develop tolerant societies, healthy people and environment for sustainability and future generations. Innovation for improving quality of life, innovation to resolve problems related to water, energy, food security, health, infrastructure, violence, war, terrorism, education, communication etc to reduce the gap between have and have nots. Innovation also requires harnessing different capabilities and competencies of people by linking organizations and institutions to cater to fast changing consumer needs. Institutional research on science and technology, IPR related issues, industry- academia to come together, developing commercialization and marketing talent, linking Innovation clusters at business and university levels, innovation policies and programs of Government for boosting institutional linkages and strengthening National Innovation System [NIS].
