Dear Community Members: Monterey Peninsula Unified School District is making progress towards becoming a center of educational excellence. Investments in curriculum, professional development, technology, and academic intervention have produced an upward trend in student achievement. We have successfully raised the standard of education our students receive and produced positive gains in every California Standards Testing area. MPUSD has demonstrated fiscal responsibility and purposeful allocation of precious resources in a time of statewide fiscal crisis. With the help of a caring and supportive community we have been able to provide our students with a quality educational experience. We will be providing the MPUSD community with an update on our progress and growth at our annual Community Forum meeting. It will also be an opportunity for community members to provide input that helps guide our decision-making and future Blueprint for Success action plans. We hope youll join the conversation on Tuesday, October 2. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in the education of our students. Sincerely,

Dr. Marilyn K. Shepherd, Superintendent
