As we move into 2012, I wonder if the last year may have left you a little stunned? The last 2 years have certainly been interesting for most people. Think back to where you were 2 years ago - I wouldnt be surprised to hear if there have been quite a few twists and turns in your life. Astrology helps us keep track of cycles on a collective and individual level and we are all going to experience some groundbreaking changes in different areas of our lives over the next few years. When I write your forecasts, Im looking at an energy pattern that can be felt collectively and honing in on a particular area for each sun sign. I am conscious that some people who read this will have little or no experience or understanding of astrology and some of you may be more advanced. My aim is to make the yearly forecast an enjoyable read for everyone who comes across it. Perhaps we have family members or friends who are coming to terms with losing a job, or even their home. Perhaps we have experienced this ourselves. If we are fortunate enough to have missed the current financial tension in our own arena, its impossible to escape the daily bombardment of financial forecasting. This affects us all in some way and whilst we may have started to see the green shoots of recovery in some areas of the world, there will be peaks and troughs over the coming years. This is not a comfortable process. However, it does mean that we will find creative ways to make things work for us. It also gives us the benefit of taking a closer look at our lives and the lives of people around us, and make readjustments to our current perspectives.

2012 brings some fundamental changes. Something new is on the horizon. We caught glimpses of what those changes might mean last year, but this year takes us right to the heart of the matter. 2012 marks the peak of a transition; a cross over into a new, exciting, and at times challenging era. Many of us have already been directly affected by the global recession, and it impacts on us all in different ways. Of course some people are doing well, maybe even better than before - our own individual cycles play a part in how we are currently faring. Regardless of our own circumstances, we may know

Im a great believer in compassion specifically grounded compassion, which is really an acknowledgment of other people around us. Its sad this has been so severely lacking that, when we do experience it, we dont actually recognise it any more. When people do things for us, most people subconsciously reach for a motive. If we cant see or fathom a motive, we are immediately suspicious and perhaps even mildly condemning. Our immediate response is distrust because this is not something we experience very often. We have lived in a WIIFM (Whats in it for me) society for way too long and I believe this has eroded our sense of community. I propose a WIIFU (Whats in it for us) society, starting in 2012 - a more integrative and balanced point of view that ensures we meet not only our own needs, but the needs of the

2012 Bringing Compassion back into Fashion!

people with whom we come into contact day to day. 2012 potentially brings compassion and kindness back into vogue on a humanitarian and global level. Actually, I think this trend has started already check out yearofkindness (you can click on the link) a blog I found particularly inspirational. Written by an Aries with a mission, she recently spoke about her thoughts and experiences whilst promoting kindness. In her post titled Kindness Army (very Aries indeed!) she said;
I cant quite believe that I am now almost six months into my Year of Kindness. Seems like only yesterday I was stumbling through my very first day, offering smiles to strangers and receiving very few in return. I didnt like all the negativity, selfishness and cruelty I saw all around me. After a long time of feeling frustrated and helpless, I decided I would do something about it. I wanted to prove (to myself as much as anyone else) that despite all the inevitable bad stuff in life, even the smallest acts of good can be powerful in the most unexpected ways and every single person has the power to make the world a kinder place.

A Pivotal Point

2012 has stood out for most astrologers as being a pivotal year due to Pluto and Uranus coming together. These 2 major planets form a number of exact tense aspects over the next few years and 2012 begins this process. How to use this guide

You can, of course, read your guide from beginning to the end if you wish. I have written your yearly report in sections and there are different ways you can utilize this report throughout the year. Part 1 looks at the major trends for your sun sign incorporating the dominant themes from the beginning of 2012 throughout the year. You will also find links to various articles (they look like this Link) describing some of the planets I mention in your report - read them as you go through, or come back to them later. They will give you a better idea about what I have based your report on, and give you a deeper insight into the planets. The summary section (Part 2) breaks down your themes for the year into 3 main areas - love and relationships, money and finance and career and status - You can get a better idea about what to expect in each of these particular areas of your life by reading this section. Part 3 covers the effects of the main planetary movements as they move from one sign to another (technically termed ingresses) and eclipses on your sign in 2012. I have focussed on Neptune, Saturn and Jupiter who all move into different signs this year. The eclipse section highlights the potential affects of the eclipse for your sun sign. (You can also refer to the calendars in part 4 to get a clearer idea about the timing of these events throughout the year.)

Part 4 contains the moon calendar highlighting 4 phases of the moon each month with corresponding dates, signs and degrees. Each phase is significant depending on what sign it is in and I take this into account when I write your monthly astrology report and overview on AstroArtisan. The direct, station and retrograde calendar shows times when Mercury, Venus and Mars are moving backwards and forwards and the point they stop (station) in between. Gemini, you are just about ready in 2012 to come out of your shell and have a bit of fun. Its all been a little bit serious in the last year and you probably found yourself changing directions so many times, that it was difficult to keep up. Along with all those changes, you may have felt burdened in some area of your life and a significant part of this issue pertained to your focus and responsibilities revolving around other people rather than yourself - Finding a balance may have proved quite challenging. It looks like this year, your life is about to do 180 and the hard work and sheer slog you have put in over the last few years will begin to pay off.

You are probably one of the most versatile and adaptable signs in the zodiac, so much so that Gemini may have been unfairly labelled as being fickle and flighty. You do have a tendency to spread yourself thinly (its a big world after all with lots of interesting things and people) The 2 sides and faces of Gemini are your strength as well as your weakness. You could be in for some pleasant surprises as far as your chosen group and friendships are concerned, and your values will naturally align with any associations you belong to. This group of people will encourage you to come out a little and have more confidence in your abilities. You may have heard that Pluto recently got demoted and lost its planetary status, but this makes no difference to the overhauling and transformative effect this planet has when we look at astrology cycles. A Change in Direction

The Pluto and Uranus tense aspect I mentioned in the introduction of your report places a particular emphasis on your friendships and how they define you, your associations very much reflect your changing ideals; you may have found that your ambitions and hopes for the future are changing at a rapid pace and you are probably finding it challenging to define as you observe that your hopes are not static but continually evolving as you gain new and sudden insights (perhaps from the people you are associating with). nePtUne This planet in astrology is associated with higher visions, dreams, fantasy, illusion and all things mystical and unseen. Neptune settles into Pisces this year for 14 years and this is where Neptune operates best as this planet rules the sign of Pisces. Neptune is diffuse and difficult to grasp, but if you are naturally inclined towards non-linear perspectives, then Neptune in Pisces is likely to be an energy that will be a joy to work with. In some ways, this planet acted a little out of character when it was in the sign of Aquarius as the 2 have quite different agendas and ways of operating. An all encompassing role

As you begin to see the possibilities of expansion in terms of what you contribute, not only will this allow you to see the broader picture, but also means that, potentially, people will see what you have to offer is multifaceted and potentially useful. The caution here is that you may find that you spread yourself too thinly, and you may be tempted to chase every dream coming your way. Try to focus on one and make it as creative and imaginative as you would like it to be. If you are able to start to refine what it is you have to offer, whilst thinking big at the same time, you can develop something which has the potential to springboard into something else. (Giving you the variety you thrive on)

There will be so many opportunities and ideas running through your mind in 2012, you may not be too sure which idea to run with or which ones are likely to lead you to where you want to go. By the end of the year, your career should start to take shape and become a little more definitive. Actually, you may find that there is a beautiful integration between structure and imagination which will start to show in whatever it is you present or put together. 2012 and 2013 are pivotal years in terms of what you offer the world and how the world receives it. JUPiter Jupiters expansion can bring rewards and inflates whatever it touches. Jupiter is seen as the luck planet by some as it tends to harness positivity and bring happy fortuitous circumstances into our lives. Jupiter inflates whatever it touches think largesse and growth and we have a good idea about the potentials of this planet. It has been said that Jupiter in a certain area of our charts can even literally expand our waistlines!! Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar system and has an immense gravity field that deflects comets from hitting the earth giving us a certain amount of protection. There is also an element of protection associated with Jupiter in astrology.

I mentioned earlier on that Jupiter will travel through your sign from mid 2012. However, for the first 6 months of the year, you may not realise it, but you are building on something quite powerful. If you are aware of this, you may have felt a little thwarted over the last 6 months, but knew you were working towards something bigger. By mid 2012, Jupiter will be travelling through your sign and you should start to see some benefits. You could find yourself managing an investment of some kind, or starting to build a nest egg for a rainy day. This could also have a big impact on anything that you decide to undertake in the future, so continue to build upon those funds. You may be thinking about purchasing a new home, putting something by for your retirement or investing in stocks and shares. All in all, you should be feeling more optimistic and hopeful. I really dont need to advise you to get out there and learn as much as you can as this is your modus operandi anyway, but you really have something to look forward to this year. Not only will you feel more optimistic about your life in general, but life should start to move in the direction you want.

romance A Steady Influence

You have been pretty serious about romance over the last year, and may have found yourself having quite a few heart to hearts with a loved one. If you felt hindered or restricted, this may not have been much fun for you. It hasnt all been bad; it just may have been quite tense. If you are single and looking, you perhaps got the feeling that you were ready to get serious about someone. If you did meet someone last year congratulations, if not, this year you could potentially find someone who you will want to get serious about. You are taking a balanced view regarding any potential romances and if your idea of romance and fun did not show up in the way you hoped it would, you may be able to use this time to really understand what it is you are looking for. If you are settled, life will continue in the same vein and as long as your partner is able keep up with your busy and hectic schedule, all should continue to be well. Saturn here is adding a certain amount of temperance and balance to your creative urges and romantic inclinations, and there are a number of potential implications.

The Spotlight is on You

From mid 2012, life starts to change. You will be growing, reaching out and expanding beyond your normal boundaries. This is wonderful and will give you the opportunity to come out, be seen and in doing so, become larger than life.

satUrn Father time Saturn is the planet associated with restrictions, lessons and time. It also lends structure and discipline to the area of our chart it impacts. This planet is a bit like Father Time and can bring a feeling of delays and hold ups. Whichever area Saturn is impacting gives us the effect that everything has slowed down. The positive side of Saturn is that it stabilises, as well as teaches us patience through what can seem like a long and arduous climb. Although the impact of this planet feels frustrating, in the long run we may find that we take a more structured approach to the area it impacts. Saturn is also associated with the wisdom and patience of maturity.

Harnessing Creativity

You will find that there is a continued focus on establishing some equilibrium in the way you express yourself. There are a few ways this may have show up for you. Perhaps you are getting serious about the hobbies and pastimes you have, with the view to making them part of the work you do. Perhaps children have come into your life with the responsibilities and joys of parenting. You now have the added bonus of harnessing the discipline you have shown in this area of your life and making it work for you in some way during 2012. Last year may have been a bit of an eye opener in regards to your relationships. You may have found yourself making a commitment. These themes are continuing into 2012 and throughout the year, you will be looking at how you operate in your relationships and what works for you. June brings relationships to the forefront and the one to one relationships you form in your life will be important in defining who you are. If you are single, its possible that someone could come into your life from mid 2012. If you are partnered up, you could see some interesting developments in your relationship. The eclipses in your sign and your opposing sign mark significant turning points, so its worth bearing this in mind whilst being open to new opportunities and different ways of relating during this time. This could be very positive, and bring in something new to what potentially was an old and outdated relationship scenario. You may also find that you discard what doesnt work for you. Either way, relationships will continue to be on your mind for the majority of 2012.

Money and Finances

This area of your life is going through an overhaul. Actually it has been since 2008, but 2012 really brings this into focus. This influence is related to money you receive from your corporation, group or employer. If it all gets a little tense, this may be the fuel you need to instigate any necessary changes. This is quite an important process for you and, if you feel torn between service and ensuring that you receive your dues, you will find a middle ground here. Whilst you are dealing with a continual and somewhat erratic change in terms of what you are aiming for, you will also see that this change affects how other people potentially value what you have to offer impacting on the rewards you receive for your work. These two factors are very much connected for you this year, and your drive will be focussed on ushering in the new in terms of the group you affiliate with and defining what you are worth.

Its all set to change in this area of your life in one way or another and you could have felt the initial stirrings of this in 2011. As we move into 2012, you are now entering a period where you will experience these changes on quite a profound level. oUter Planets Changing signs anD eCliPses 2012 Neptune moves into Pisces 3 Feb 2012 Saturn moves into Scorpio 5 Oct 2012 Jupiter moves into Gemini 11 June 2012 Planets changing signs mark important points in their cycles and change the flow of energy, moving us in a different direction. The personal planets, Mercury, Venus and Mars, and the moon and sun move fairly quickly in comparison with the outer planets, so the quicker moving planets show the ebb and flow of our daily lives whilst they make different aspects in the chart. The outer planets changing signs are indicative of significant shifts and trends that can last many years. Last year, Neptune went into Pisces for the first time in 164 years and went back into Aquarius at the end of 2011. From February, Neptune will stay in Pisces for 14 years. Jupiter went into Taurus mid 2011 (where it will remain until June 2012) and will move into Gemini, and Uranus continued its stay in Aries and will be there for the next 7 years. Pluto has been in Capricorn since 2008 and will stay there for 13 years. Saturn has been in Libra since October 2009 and will move into Scorpio in October 2012. All these changes are significant and affect us all individually.
neptune After years of gathering information and trying to define and refine your knowledge, you will take everything you have put into your bag and incorporate this into who you are. In other words youre ready to present your vast accumulation of knowledge to the world and this will impact on your career, professional presentation and to a certain extent your status. This is a great influence for you, but you may want to be wary of scattering yourself too thinly as people will not know what it is you are trying to put across, and with the spotlight beaming down on you, its probably a good idea to make sure you are quite clear in terms of how you present yourself. You are naturally adept at garnering and using information and are quite dexterous when it comes to learning. In 2012, you may want to start looking at what area it is you would like to focus on. By doing so you are less likely to cause confusion. (for yourself and others) The substantial databank in your mind is great, but being a specialist, may perhaps serve you better. Saturn has been affecting your creativity and actually this may have been quite positive for you as you found yourself working hard on what you enjoy. As Saturn moves into Scorpio, this will bring about a change in your work routines. Its about focus deep thorough and driven focus, and this is likely to make all the difference in regards to achieving your ambitions. You wont find this too difficult, and if you have previously scattered your energies, this will pull things back into focus. This is especially wonderful for your career and the more energy you put into ensuring that you have grounded yourself , the more likely that you and other people will have a stronger definition about who you are and what it is you have to offer.

Jupiter is big news for you and will be entering your sign in June. If you have been working behind the scenes in preparation for your entrance onto the world stage, you are likely to see some rewards for your hard work. There is an element of extravagance as far as Jupiter is concerned and though this can be positively wonderful, there is the potential to go over the top. Mars retrogrades every 2.5 years and can bring about a time we are being pulled back a little in our efforts. Mars is active and associated with warrior type energies. It is what drives and fuels us to take action, so when it is retrograde we may be a little reticent in going forward. Mars usually spends just over a month in each sign, however Mars will spend 8 months travelling through Virgo. Rather than going full speed ahead, this Mars retrograde may pull you back. Outwards energies become inverted. You will find that your home life is under the spotlight for a significant part of the year and you may feel an urge to get your house in some kind of order during this phase. Just be aware that it may be better for you go back to the old, rather than trying to bring something new to your home situation. If you can spend this time clearing out and preparing for the new, great. This may not be a good time to start new projects around the home, but you will find that as Mars goes direct, you begin to transition into a more energetic phase concerning matters around the home. This could be related to moving home, or you may just be more immersed than usual in family matters.

Venus retrograde

Venus will also retrograde this year in Gemini. Venus retrogrades mark a time when we rethink our relations. Venus is also associated with beauty, cosmetics, fine tailoring and anything aesthetic and pleasing to the eye. During the retrograde phase, its advisable not to go for any cosmetic treatments, get a new hair cut or buy anything that you think may suit you. There is the potential to look at it after the retrograde and not like what you see. If you do find yourself going over old ground, especially in relation to your love life, this is a good time to do so. We can use a Venus retrograde to reflect on what we find beautiful and how we conduct the relationships in our lives. Venus retrograde is an important phase for you this year as Venus will move backwards in your sign. You may be mulling over past relationships and romances and a past love may return. If you are feeling a little melancholy during this phase, try to remember the good times and dont focus on the negative. If you are able to reframe and understand past relationships this could actually be a pleasant phase, especially if someone from the past does show up whom you have fond memories of. You may also use this time to go back over old ground and refine any creative projects you are working on it may certainly feel like a step back before you feel confident in progressing, but you have the opportunity to plan and prepare.

I always make note of Mercury retrogrades. Its usual to find that communications go a little haywire during these times. Eclipses mark turning points in our lives, they also show beginnings, endings and potential changes in direction. The eclipses in Gemini and Sagittarius bring everyones focus to communications, from local to global level. Gemini, the eclipses are especially important for you as they occur in your sign and your opposing sign Sagittarius. All planets station, direct and retrograde throughout the year. The personal planets Mercury, Venus and Mars have been illustrated in the calendars on the next pages. Pre-retrograde (shadow period) The pre retrograde phase (or shadow) marks a time when we begin to slow down. We may feel the tug of the planets energy as it prepares to go retrograde. This period allows us to gradually ease into the retrograde phase. Station Retrograde We can think of the station as a tipping point this is where the planet stops before it goes retrograde. If we think about standing on a ledge as we are about to tip over, the moment before we fall is perhaps the most tense and this is the feeling we may have at the stationary point. Retrograde The planet is now moving backwards (or we have the illusion of this motion from our positioning on earth) and this is usually a time where we go back to something or work in a different way with the planets energy. Station Direct The planet stops again in preparation to move forward after this point the planet is in direct motion. Post retrograde This period (also called a shadow) eases us out of the retrograde phase as we slowly gather momentum The energy may still be a little diffuse until we move past this phase. Perhaps look at the calendars, note the planets motions and see if you can feel the effects as we go through each phase.
