ELECTRICAL DEVELOPMENT IN ATV PROJECT

BY: Ankit Puri EEE 4th Year ABES Engineering College Team Tachyons

Introduction
The EC & EEE Dept. Of the Team is responsible for all the electronic and electrical component, circuit, designing, and testing of them all. In this repot there are some topics, works, components, and processes related to electronic and electricals that are to be executed for the sucessful completion of the project.

Main Component
1. Previous work done on the vehicle in department. 2. Previous mechanism/Components assembled. 3. Suggestion for BAJA 2013. 4. Mechanisms/Components to be used. 5. Specifications of components. 6. Availability 7. Cost of components

Previous work done on the vehicle in department.

Electrification of ATV. Complete Wiring battery placement. Designing of circuits and installing them. Soldering of wires and switches. Placement of controller on the ATV. Covering of whole wiring for safety purpose. Testing of all components and wiring circuitry. Testing of Kill Switch. Testing of Speedometer.

Previous mechanism/Components assembled.

Suggestion for BAJA-2013

Planning is crucial and drawing out the circuits first is a very wise move. It is normally possible to simplify circuits considerably from the initial design to the finished one. Try to amalgamate power feeds etc as much as possible to reduce the amount of wire in the car Use of previous battery which is in working condition. Use of low wattage components and low rating component for electrical efficiency. For Low power consumption use of LED Lamps.

Tools Riquired
Soldering Iron - 20 Watt irons are great for building circuit boards Multi-meter - either digital or analogue (needle on a dial or digital readout). one that measures resistance, continuity and Volts. Solder - resin cored electrical solder is the only way to go. We will need approx 100grams or more. Heat Shrink - great stuff, comes in a range of colors and sizes. Side Cutters - for cutting wire. Heat Shrink Gun or alternative is a cigarette lighter or a hot tool will work. Wire Strippers Long Nose Pliers - used for crimping terminals on before you solder them. Insulation Tape - good quality - 3M etc. Cable Ties - far better solution than taping wire together. More on this later. Wire/Terminals - as required. Will need varying lengths of wire in different colours and thicknesses
