The "Friendship" Match will feature a combined mixed four-ball, with six groupings of four players that includes one girl and one boy from both Europe and the United States. The top 5 in the world, in order, are at Medinah: Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, Luke Donald, Lee Westwood and Justin Rose. COMPARISONS, BY THE NUMBERS: Here are some figures comparing the 2012 Ryder Cup Teams: * Number of Combined Ryder Cup Appearances by all Players, including this week: Europe 37, United States 38 * Number of Individual Major Champions on Each Team: Europe 4, United States 7 * Number of Combined Major Championship Victories: Europe 5, United States 23 * Total Worldwide Career Wins: Europe 168, United States 234 RYDER CUP REFLECTIONS: The Champions Tour asked former Ryder Cup Captains and players to recall some of their personal highlights from previous Ryder Cups. Corey Pavin, U.S. Team Member in 1991, '93 and '95, and the Team Captain in 2010, was asked, "As a player, do you have a special memory from playing in the Ryder Cup?" His response: "There are kind of two different categories for when I was playing. Its the watching and the doing. As far as the watching, the two things that stick out the most are Bernhard (Langer) and Hale Irwins

match at Kiawah [in 1991], watching that finish up. The other was I was up at the green at No. 18 at The Belfry in 1993 when Davis (Love III) made the putt to clinch the matches. "I did some good stuff myself in the Ryder Cup individually. I chipped in on 18 on Saturday in the final match at The Belfry which was pretty exciting, with everybody there watching and also when I got it up and down on 17 at Kiawah to win my first point ever in a Ryder Cup. That is always something Ill always remember, as well." Pavin also was asked about being a captain. His response: "I think being captain was the most special thing of all because its a unique situation and not many guys get to do that. Theres been a lot of players but much fewer captains. To be a captain and just be around the guys and do all the things that you try to set up so that the team is ready to play and they have the least amount to worry about. Its a different role to play certainly but it was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed that a lot. Sandy Lyle, European Team Member in 1979, '81, '83, '85 and '87, was asked about his Ryder Cup memories. His response: Probably the first memory that you have of the Ryder Cup, you see it on TV many times and it's just taking it all in. And to be teamed up with Tony Jacklin at the time as a partner was another sort of boy hero for me, and it almost seemed surreal. I was the first of the team really that we had the European Tour players involved in the Ryder Cup and I could see them at the matches when they started to get a lot closer. "They had a great bunch of names, good depth to the team and not many afterwards. In Columbus [1987], Jack Nicklaus was the captain, we had the victorious team and that was a great moment to be around and playing, and playing with Bernhard Langer as my partner at the time. It turned the whole Ryder Cup around, because at one time it was losing a little bit of its flavor because it was very much one-sided. Great Britain and Ireland were really not a strong enough team. With Europe being involved, it's worldwide now."
