Whilst it is barely even spring yet, Sonnet 18 came to mind when the bout of sunny winter we were enjoying in December was harshly interrupted by a blizzard. The tragedy of Costa Concordia at the beginning of the year served us yet another reminder of the fragility of life. It is such rough winds that make every life moments precious and to be grateful for. For our label 72 Smalldive, 2012 will be a busy year with moments that, we hope, we could look back and reminisce with gladness. Our collaboration with our Asian brand representative Surrealist Love Scene kicked off with a product placement at Isetan, Singapore. and there will be more surprises to come! (check out Announcement) That aside, 72 Smalldives accessories will be available in North America this Spring, with its first stop at Room 2046, a concept boutique in Toronto. Afterwhich, we shall be taking part in 2 pop shop events organised by Hasana Inc. in Chicago and New York. Our design team has also re-embarked on an unfinished journey to re-launch our jewellery line. The days are short indeed at 72 Smalldive! For this reason, we apologize that we have not been updating our blog site content since the last issue of ViTRINE. To celebrate International Womens day this March, VITRINE Style picks the perfect outfit for a martini cocktail night out. Trend heads on to Cape Town to take a peek at the beautiful creations of the female designer duo at Moonbasket. Address Book wanders into heartland of Singapore to discover the simple pleasure of shopping and afternoon tea with girlfriends. Moonbasket was started by Dani Le Roy and Laura Summs in 2009. The team endeavour to have as much fun as possible while delving deeply into the myriad possibilities of crochet. What is also positive is that the team supports women from a community-based project on the outskirts of Cape Town. As the crocheters continue to give their crochet skills, both designers constantly reach for fresh ways to showcase the beauty and value of crochet in a contemporary context. Overcrowding and rising property prices have spurred adventurous tastemakers to move into the heartlands of Singapore, creating intimate food and retail enclaves. Antoinette, a french patisserie run by Chef Pang, is tucked in a non-descript quartier Lavender. Having their flagship bistrot away from the noisy and flood prone Orchard Road is indeed a wise choice. It is definitely a welcome respite from the hectic city life in Singapore. Antoinette is located in Penhas Road 30. Surrealist Love Scene, a multi label fashion showroom, is open to the public for a moderate dose of retail therapy every Saturday. Our designer loves the relaxed ambience of the space and as well as Makatana Valley Wild Fig Bath and Body Cream, a product distributed by the Surrealist Love Scene group. The showroom is located at Midview City, Sin Ming Lane 22, at unit 07-85.

14. Passion Has No Gender

We live in a society that is deeply entrenched in the habit of genderism. Toys, hobbies, even consumer products are subjected to an illogical generalization of which is suitable or unsuitable for either sexes. Attitudes, conditions, or behaviors that promote stereotyping of social roles based on genders are not going to change anytime sooner unless our children learn to embrace that genderisms are just unfound claims based on socio-cultural factors. A quick way to inculcate an open mind is through childrens passion; how often have we made silly remarks such as ballet is not for boys and girls are better at sewing? Had Danica Patrick, Roberto Bolle, or Alber Elbaz paid heed to genderism, this world would be deprived of such wonderful talents. Passion, ambition, beauty, and even grace have no gender, never before and never in the future.
