Downriver woman wins Miss Michigan

By Jim Kasuba
The News-Herald

PORT HURON Jaclyn Schultz of Wyandotte outshone more than 100 other contestants to be named the new Miss Michigan USA in a two-day competition that concluded Saturday at the McMorran Entertainment Center. Schultz, 24, had just been awarded the title of Miss Wyandotte USA about a week or so before entering the statewide contest, which made her eligible for competition. We are overwhelmed by the response and caliber of all the participants from Michigan, said Melissa Pitchford, executive director with

the Miss Universe organization in a press release issued before the contest. There is no better opportunity for ambitious young women out there today. The Miss Michigan USA competition offers women in the state of Michigan a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to advance their personal and professional goals. Schultz graduated from Roosevelt High School in 2006. She then graduated from Central Michigan University and is currently seeking a masters degree at Michigan State University. She works as a media buyer for Brogan and Partners in Birmingham.

She was charged with two counts of welfare fraudfailure to inform in March. She pleaded no contest to one and the other was dropped. said he doesnt believe it was right to have a member of the review team conducting the appeal hearing. The process didnt seem to be conducted in a fair manner, he said. The review team called the current City Council manifestly dysfunctional, in its first report to Snyder. Fraser again said city leaders didnt appear to be able to run the city without help in his letter. The citys plan was viewed by the review team as a series of disjointed efforts, none of which had

been or were likely to be successful, Fraser wrote. At the hearing in Lansing, City Attorney Chris Forsyth did most of the talking on Allen Parks behalf. He argued that the city should get a consent agreement rather than an emergency financial manager. He told Fraser, who ran the appeal hearing, that the city had a plan to eliminate the more than $6 million in deficit it faces this fiscal year. A consent agreement and
