You can use the picture-in-picture function of Swisscom TV to zap through the programme that you are currently watching without changing the channel. Information about current and upcoming programmes can also be displayed. More on page 6.

The TV guide is an electronic magazine on your television. It contains all channels, programmes and planned recordings *(TV plus only) for the next few days. The TV guide also provides access to your own recordings as well as video on demand. More on page 7.

The parental controls function is used to stop children or young people from watching or renting certain programmes and films by protecting the functionality with a PIN. You can also define a cost limit for renting films or the use of other billable services. More from page 16.

Controlling your TV and the Swisscom TV-Box using the Swisscom TV remote control. In order to do this, you need to perform a one-time synchronisation with your television (see page 21). Controlling the television: Press TV MODE to control the television. This only works if your remote control and the Swisscom TV have been successfully synchronised (see page 21). Controlling Swisscom TV: Press STB MODE to control the Swisscom TV-Box. You can only operate Swisscom TV in STB mode (e. g. zap through the channels). Call up all of the Swisscom TV functions in the menu and define settings. The majority of the menu items is also accessible using dedicated buttons on the remote control. Pressing the MENU button takes you to the main menu. You can navigate from one menu item to another using the left/right buttons. You can select a sub-menu using the up/down buttons and the OK button. You can always tell where you currently are in the menu system by looking at title (Settings in this case) and the / symbol ( TV-Guide in this case). You can switch to another area using the left/ right buttons (e. g. from TV-Guide to Radio ). Red area: The area marked in red shows you where you currently are. Whenever you click on the OK button you are selecting the area marked in red (On-screen language in this case). Blue areas: The blue areas are not selected, but can be selected using the arrow buttons in a similar manner in which a DVD menu is used (e. g. Screen aspect ratio and resolution). The BACK button leaves the menu and takes you to the last viewed programme (in this case: away from Settings to the main menu). The EXIT TO TV button leaves the menu and takes you to the last viewed programme (channel, recorded TV (TV plus only) or Video on Demand). The PROGRAMME buttons are used for quicker navigation in lists (e. g. list of radio stations).

Please ensure that the Swisscom TV-Box and the DSL modem are being supplied with power. Press the TV MODE button and then the POWER button to switch on your TV.

Press the STB MODE button and then the POWER button to switch on your Swisscom TV-Box. You can now use all of the Swisscom TV facilities. AV button to switch to STB MODE to return to

Note: If you do not see a picture, press TV MODE. Press the the AV channel on which you receive Swisscom TV. Then press Swisscom TV mode.

Switching off Swisscom TV

Press the POWER button to switch off Swisscom TV (standby condition). The Standby indicator on the Swisscom TV-Box illuminates in red. This condition ensures that all of the programmes that you have programmed (TV plus only) will be recorded. Press the TV MODE button and then the (standby condition). POWER button to switch off your TV

Note: If you are not going to use your TV for a long period, switch the Swisscom TV-Box off at the main switch (not available for all boxes). Attention: If you switch off the Swisscom TV-Box using the main switch no programmes will be recorded (TV plus only), and the display screen format settings will be lost. 4 5

Changing TV channels
Zapping through the channels
Press the PROGRAMME buttons to zap forwards or backwards through the channels. The channel and the name of the programme that is currently showing appears at the bottom part of the screen.

Finding and selecting programs with the TV guide

Press the TV-GUIDE button. The TV guide appears on the display. You can navigate through the channels (up and down) and the time (right and left) using the arrow buttons The name, start time and a brief description of the currently selected programme appear in the bottom part of the display. Press the OK button to go to the channel.

The up/down buttons can be used to display a small preview window at the bottom of the screen. You can zap through the different channels without changing the channel you are currently viewing. Press the OK button to change to the channel displayed at the bottom of your screen.

Picture-in-picture function

Note: Press the INFO button to call up the information page. Here you can schedule the recording of the programme (TV plus only). To return to the TV guide from the information page, press the BACK button.

The left/right buttons can be used to scroll forwards and backwards through the programmes that are being shown next for the current channel. Press the OK button to display more detailed programme information.

The OPTIONS button is used to call up additional functions in the TV guide: > go straight to TV programme for the next few days > call up or manage favourites list > modify appearance of TV guide (list programmes in time or channel order) > change additional settings Tip

Special channels

Recorded TV programmes, film rentals and Sport Live are accessible on separate channels. Select channel > TC ive 1, TC ive 2 etc. for Sport Live > Recorded TV for the TV Recordings menu (TV plus only) > Video on Demand to browse through films Note: If a recording (TV plus only), a rental film or a Sport Live event has already started, the relevant title is displayed in the TV guide.

Call up favourites list using the Favourites button


You can create a favourites list that only contains the channels that you are interested in so that you do not keep having to search through all of the channels in the TV guide. Press the FAVOURITES button to call up the favourites list. You can create a favourites list at Menu > Settings > TV-Guide > Setup favourites.

Interrupt a programme and continue viewing after a time delay TV plus only
While you are watching TV, the current programme is intermediately recorded in the background. This has the advantage of allowing you to pause and/or rewind the current programme at any time. However, intermediate recording only happens if you keep watching the same channel. As soon as you switch channels, the intermediate recording is deleted and the intermediate recording of the current channel starts.

Interrupting the current programme using the Pause button

Press the PAUSE button to interrupt the current programme. The white bar (which becomes longer over time) indicates that the programme is being put into intermediate recording. Attention: As soon as you change channels, the intermediate recording is deleted.

The TV programme for the various channels appears on your screen. The channel that you last watched is always selected first. You can navigate through the channels (up and down) and the time (right and left) using the arrow buttons. The red bar in the display indicates which programme is currently selected. Press the RECORD button to record the selected programme. Programmes that have been programmed for recording are marked with a red dot. However, if you decide not to record the programme after all, press the RECORD button again. The red dot disappears, and the recording is cancelled.

Press the PAUSE button again to continue viewing the paused programme.

Scrolling forwards and backwards within the recording

The REW and FF buttons can be used to fast-forward and rewind within a stored recording. Pressing the REPLAY button jumps back by 7 seconds, and the SKIP button jumps forwards by 30 seconds. The white bar that is automatically displayed shows you where you are in the recording.

Note: You can make two recordings simultaneously. If the recording capacity is exceeded, a message is displayed. If you then wish to record the new programme, a previously programmed recording must first be deleted.

Recording a programme that is currently showing

Press the RECORD button to record the programme that you are currently watching. The Recording message is displayed at the top of the screen. Note: Recording stops automatically when the programme has ended.

This is done by selecting Resolve conflict . A list of programmes that you wish to record is displayed. will not be recorded will be recorded However, if you would like to : record Indipendence day and cancel the previously programmed London tonight recording, select Indipendence day , and confirm with the OK button. Confirm with Save changes .

Playing recorded programmes TV plus only


Recording a series
You can also record a programme as a series (Record series). This means that all upcoming episodes of the series are recorded. Press the RECORD button twice. Three overlapping red dots appear after a few seconds . Series recording is now programmed. However, if you decide not to record the series after all, press the RECORD button again. The recording is cancelled and the three red dots disappear.

Press the RECORDINGS button to open the Recorded TV menu. The recordings are sorted by date or title. Use the arrow buttons to select a recording and press the OK button.

Select Play , and confirm by pressing the button to play the recording.

Recording a programme using search TV plus only

Press the SEARCH button and enter the term you are searching for (programme, actor or title). Select the individual characters using the arrow buttons and confirm each one by pressing the OK button. The results list is continuously updated. Use the arrow buttons to select the required entry in the list and confirm by pressing the OK button. The detailed information on the selected programme appears on the screen. Select Record , and confirm by pressing the OK button to record the programme.

Note: Under Keep until you can select whether to delete a recording automatically if the amount of storage space on the Swisscom TV-Box is low.

Renting films and Sport Live

Press the VIDEOS button to open the Video on Demand menu. Use the arrow buttons to select the required film category and confirm the selection with the OK button. A list of all films that are available in this category and their prices is displayed. Now select the film that you would like to rent and confirm your selection using the OK button. An information page opens up. This page shows you what the film costs and the duration of the rental period. You can also watch a preview. To rent the film, select Rent now and press the OK button.

Select Today or navigate with the buttons to the desired league.

Select the desired Sport Live event. The detailed information about the event is displayed. Select Rent now and confirm the selection with the OK button.

The rental price is displayed again. Select Rent now, and confirm your selection with the OK button. The film starts automatically. You can restart the film later within the specified rental period under Video on Demand > Rented Films.

Note: You can rent a Sport Live event before and during the transmission. You can record Sport Live events (TV plus only). Live pause (TV plus only) is also available during the transmission. Bookings are viewable in the customer center on the same day as the event.

Note: There is no category English available for Video on Demand. But many movies come with a second audio language. If a movie is available in English, it will be indicated on the information page (step 4).

Listening to the radio


Listening to radio without switching the TV on
You can receive Swiss and international radio stations and countless Internet radio stations using your Swisscom TV-Box. Note: The Internet radio stations are not prepared for the Internet by Swisscom. Quality problems may therefore occur. If a station appears twice, please select the station listed under swiscom Radio for a better quality. Connect your stereo system or your home cinema system to the Swisscom TV-Box (see Installing Swisscom TV instructions) to listen to the radio with the TV switched off.

Note: Only a small selection of the available Internet radio stations is displayed on your screen. You can select the stations and the display order in the customer center (see page 18). Attention: If you have the DSL start Internet access you can only listen to the Internet radio stations if you open an Internet connection on your computer (CHF 3.-/hour). With all the other DSL subscriptions Internet radio stations are free of charge and can be listened to without switching the computer on. 14 15

Define a purchasing PIN so that billable programmes and videos can only be rented by persons who know the PIN.

Parental Locking

Select Menu > Settings > Parental controls > Parental locking. Enter your four-digit parental locking PIN*. If you have entered your PIN correctly you are automatically taken to the settings. A list of possible settings is displayed (Lock channels or Age limit for video on demand [VOD]). Please note that the rental of Unrated content is blocked by default.

Select Menu > Settings > Parental controls > Rental locking.

Enter a four-digit purchasing PIN twice.

Select Lock renting and press the ton. A padlock symbol appears. Confirm with Save .

The preset parental locking PIN is 0000. The PIN is required for all modifications to parental locking settings. Change the PIN under menu item Settings > Parental controls > Parental locking.

Define or change cost limit


Define a monthly cost limit for billable programmes and videos.

Select Menu > Settings > Parental controls > Cost limit.

Forgot your PIN?

If you have forgotten your PIN, please first try entering the default PIN number 0000. If this does not work, reset the PIN in the Swisscom customer center (see page 18). Otherwise, please call our toll-free number 0800 800 800.

Disable parental locking

You can cancel parental locking for 4 hours or disable it completely.

Select Menu > Settings > Parental controls > Parental locking. Enter your four-digit parental locking PIN, and select Turn off locking . Select whether you would like to cancel the lock for 4 hours or disable it altogether. Press the

OK button.

Cancelling Swisscom TV or additional channels


If you wish to cancel your Swisscom TV subscription or would like to cancel individual additional packages, you must do so in writing. Please send a letter to the following address: Swisscom (Switzerland) AG Contact Center 3050 Bern

Minimum contract duration


Both the Swisscom TV subscription and the additional packages are subject to a minimum contract duration. Swisscom TV can be cancelled without charge at the end of the minimum contract duration. If you cancel Swisscom TV or an additional package before the applicable minimum contract duration has elapsed, a cancellation fee will be charged.

If you would like to control both the Swisscom TV-Box and your television set using the Swisscom TV remote control, the Swisscom TV remote control must be synchronised with your TV set.

1. Notify Swisscom about the move online or by telephone

It is advisable to notify Swisscom of your new address online or by telephone about three weeks before you move house. Please think about where you are going to put your TV in the new house as early as posible. If you need longer cables, e. g. for connecting the Swisscom box to the DSL modem, those are available et the nearest Swisscom shop. Swisscom TV must be re-connected at your new location. The Setting up Swisscom TV guide that you received with the Swisscom TV-Box explains how to connect the various equipment items. If you would prefer not to set up Swisscom TV and DSL from Swisscom by yourself, we recommend having the installation done by an expert. More information is available by calling the toll-free number 0800 800 800.

Synchronising the remote control

Switch your TV set on. Press the TV MODE button on the Swisscom TV remote control for at least two seconds until the TV lamp on top of the remote control flashes twice. Enter the digits 0 0 1 within five seconds (the TV lamp flashes twice as a confirmation). Press the POWER button on the Swisscom TV remote control until your TV switches itself off. This can take several minutes. The TV lamp on your Swisscom TV remote control flashes during this time . Attention: Release the button as soon as your TV switches itself off.

Note: If the synchronisation does not work, you will find a list of codes for various television sets at www.swisscom.ch > TV. Follow the instructions on the web site.

Display preview window in bottom part of screen. PIP BROWSE: The picture-in-picture function can be used to browse through the channels to find out which programmes are currently showing. Browse in list of programmes for current channel to obtain information about future programmes. TV-GUIDE: Open / close electronic magazine containing programme information for the next few days. FF in TV-GUIDE: Go forward 24 hours. REW in TV-GUIDE: Go back 24 hours. PAUSE (TV plus only): Pause live transmission or recording (to take a phone call, for example). After the interruption you can continue watching your programme without missing a second. RECORD (TV plus only): Record current programme or programme selected in TV guide. REPLAY (TV plus only): Jump back by 7 seconds. You can simply repeat sections that you have missed during a live transmission or recording. SKIP (TV plus only): Skip forwards by 30 seconds in a recording. Skip boring adverts, for example. SEARCH: Start search function. You can search for programmes, actors or film titles. MENU: Call up the menu in which all Swisscom TV functions can be called up and settings can be made. EXIT TO TV: Close view and switch to previous channel. RECORDINGS (TV plus only): Display recorded programmes or program new recordings. OPTIONS: Call up additional functions in the search function and the TV guide.

INFO: Display information about chosen programme. EXIT TO TV: Close view and switch to previous channel.
