THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

I want to take this opportunity to once again encourage our church families to consider keeping Hannah Martin in their home. Each volunteer is asked to keep Hannah for one month and this includes feeding her while in for each of those weekends. If you can help with this need, be sure to contact me at 740.550.9882. For those who cannot help with her housing, let me encourage you to consider signing up for providing a meal for Hannah while she is in during the weekend. Whether that means, you want to take her to a restaurant or have her into your home for a meal, we hope you will take advantage of this opportunity so you too can get to know our Childrens Director better. To sign up, go to our bulletin board in the coat room and look for a time most convenient for you to assist with this need. This week during the fair, there will be no morning or evening classes or small groups meeting at the church. We will return to our normal class schedule on October 17th. Couples interested in traveling to Worthington Christian Church on October 27th for the Marriage Conference, should register with Brad by October 14th. The cost is $25 per couple plus lunch together locally. We hope you join us for a great day of fellowship and challenge. In His Service, Brad

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

The date is Friday, October 12. We will be departing at 8:00 AM and returning in the late afternoon. The cost for transportation and admission is $9 per person. (Payable when you sign up.) Those attending will assume responsibility for their lunch on the grounds. A sign-up sheet is posted.
SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY:

SCOTTS THOUGHTS
Matthew 28:18-20 New International Version (NIV)
18 Then

This week we will continue our journey through the book of II Corinthians. The message is Can Christians Be Both Humble And Confident? (II Cor. 3:1-6). On October 14, the theme is The Wonder Of It All (II Corinthians 3:7-18). If you are not involved in a small group, on Sunday evenings, I encourage you to join us. Also, remember that we now have activities for children each Sunday evening.
WEDNESDAYS: This week (October 10)

Jesus came to them and said, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. This text clearly lays out the basis for outreach and also sets the responsibility for outreach ministry squarely in the hands of each and every disciple. The intent is continuing the cycle. You go make disciples and teach them to go make disciples who then are taught to go make disciples. As the outreach minister, I am looking for a ministry leader for each of four areas we have identified as an initial focus. Cup of cold water ministries, lawncare ministries, automotive ministries and home cleaning and repair ministries. If you have skills in these areas and would be interested in leading one of these ministries, contact me @740-475-7721 or gtmgefsb2@yahoo.com.

our classes will not be meeting. However, we will resume on October 17 as we consider The Church In The Later Middle Ages. I do invite you to join us for the 10:00 AM and 6:30 PM sessions.
FINAL THOUGHT: Wisdom is the ability

to keep your mouth shut while your mind continues to talk to itself.

Last week at Sunday Night Live the K-5 class learned about Prayer. We learned what Prayer really is and then talked about how we also need to listen to God. Even though it was a lesson aimed for younger kids, we as adults can learn a lot from it as well. It is easy to forget that our relationship with God is a two way street. Just like any earthly relationships we have, we have to put effort into it. When talking to your best friend, you dont tell them all about your life but not take the time to listen to what they have to say; thats an easy way to lose a friend. It is the same concept with our Heavenly Father; He loves for us to talk to Him, but we also must take the time to listen and see what His will is for our lives. Proverbs 2:1-5 My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. **Side note: I have been looking for things in town to do so that I can meet more students age k-5th grade. If you have any ideas let me know! Also, if your son or daughter plays a sport or is a part of any activity please let me know or print me a schedule so I can come visit!! Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:

Sermon Notes ________________________

________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ ________________________________________ _______________________________________ ______________________________________

Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace-based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
