Benjamin Franklin House Free Educational Events & Projects 2012/2013

Science Day
May 2013
School children will take part in fun and informative sessions which highlight what became of Franklins most important investigations. Special guests will capture the childrens attention with experiments that pop, illuminate and crackle, showing how Franklins 18th century explorations have led to todays most important technologies.

Science Fair
November 2012 & June 2013, Benjamin Franklin House
Science Fair allows children to develop skills associated with scientific enquiry, helping them become autonomous thinkers and creative problem solvers. They are encouraged to develop their own responses to problems Franklin considered at Craven Street, such as how to get more energy from less fuel. Young people create and display their own experiments at in-school Science Fairs, with winning entries going forward to this special gathering.

Sister Schools
Ongoing
Sister Schools is a transatlantic citizenship programme linking schools in London with their counterparts in the United States. For a period of six weeks, children participate in a fun and collaborative curriculum based on the amazing life of Benjamin Franklin particularly his years in London and efforts to strengthen Anglo-American relations. Themes include our shared heritage, citizenship, and science and innovation.

Weekly Visits to the Student Science Centre & Teacher Engagement Opportunities
Visits to the Benjamin Franklin House Student Science Centre can be booked for Tuesdays when we are open exclusively to schools! To enhance our education programme, we are looking for teachers to take part in informal, periodic discussion groups to give us their professional insights.
