INTELLIGENT UNDERGROUND MINE DETECTION (IUMD) ROBOT

The IUMD Robot System was developed on the base of a new robot technology (newest sensor and most advanced digital technology), which is able to construct a precise map of the metallic parts located under the ground level, to store the coordinates of their location and if required to make a paint mark on the ground at the place of their location. This robot system was developed mainly for military application. The system has the highest effectiveness in procedures of mapping and destruction of projectiles and active mines. The IUMD Robot System recognizes projectiles and different mines, mapping their coordinates with up to 1 cm accuracy. It uses a 2m long pneumatic lever holding the magnetic sensors vertically with a gyroscope. The data sent from the unit onto the remote control unit is already a picture of the detected metallic part. The identified objects can be destroyed using the built-in back-sliding disrupter with the help of an infrared camera. These maneuvers are done securely using the remote control from a distance of over 100m. The incoming data, both pictures of found metallic parts and video input can be stored onto the notebook built in the remote control. The screen on the remote control unit shows two parallel pictures: one of the GPS coordinates and the map the unit is located at, and one of the video input the unit sends to the remote control. The unit has front shields to avoid the fragmentation effect. The system recognizes metallic parts in up to 2m depth below the ground level. The unit can be used during day and night it uses two infrared lights in the camera and two 50W halogen lights on the front. It can be used in extreme conditions: from -10C up to +60C; it is dustproof it works even in desert conditions. Steps of the mapping process: 1. Digitalization of the traditional map with the available largest scale. 2. Loading of precise coordinates of the examination area into the distance control and coordination system. 3. Setting of the detector and video recording units according to the terrain conditions. 4. Examination of the designated area. Main parts of the IUMD Robot System: infra laser scanning and warning system (optional) radio controlled menu system microwave video recording transfer system high sensitive and high resolution magnetometer form recognition DSP system
