Dear Parents, We are currently learning many new map skills and writing skills in class.

Among them, we are learning about Colorado and other states. Now we would like your help! We are reading Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. In the story, a young boy gets flattened by a bulletin board (without being hurt) and is able to travel by slipping himself inside an envelope. We are making our own flat travelers that will also travel around the United States. Were asking that you provide the name and address of two relatives and/or close friends that live in another state who would be willing to participate in our Flat Stanley exchange. The recipient will be asked to use the enclosed template to make a Flat Stanley representing their state, and return the traveler along with a short letter about how Flat Stanley would spend his time in their state. They are encouraged to send pictures and/or a very small souvenir. When the travelers return to our school, we will plot the travelers whereabouts on our map/globe and share the information received with each other. It will be a tremendous learning experience for your child. We are very excited about it!! Please provide us with the addresses below to your chosen relatives or friends from out-of-state. We will be mailing the flat travelers in about two weeks. DPS will pay the cost of postage both ways. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to let me know. As always, we appreciate your support of our learning and activities! Sincerely,
