16 October 2012 AirportlinkM7 enters next phase Three months ago Brisbane was promised a road revolution and after providing nearly six million free trips, and cutting surface road traffic by up to 17,000 vehicles a day on major roads, AirportlinkM7 has delivered. BrisConnections Chief Financial Officer Nick Lattimore said the company was ready for the next phase of the game-changing roads operation when discounted tolling for all vehicles begins on 18 October. Motorists have told us about the time savings they have consistently achieved and the difference this has had on their daily lives, and we are confident that they will be happy to pay a small fee to continue to enjoy these benefits, Mr Lattimore said. Tolls will start from as little as $2 for cars taking the shorter trip between Bowen Hills and Kedron or between Kedron and Toombul and $2.50 between Bowen Hills and Toombul from Thursday. It will remain at this price for the next six months. Mr Lattimore said while he expected there would initially be some drop in traffic once discounted tolling began, BrisConnections was confident numbers would continue to grow over the medium-term. BrisConnections has carried out extensive research with commuters during both pre and post opening and we have carefully devised our opening pricing strategy with their input, he said. Motorists have told us what they perceive to be value for money when it comes to time savings and the economic and lifestyle benefits they can achieve, so we are confident we have priced our product correctly. According to our research, 75 per cent of motorists think half an hour is worth $15 or more and 45 percent were prepared to forgo an espresso coffee to save between 10 and 20 minutes on a daily drive to work.

This is why AirportlinkM7 has won over so many regular users and will continue to do so. Mr Lattimore said the company was also in the final planning phase of delivering a new range of innovative tolling products that would provide greater savings for regular commuters as well as enticing new users. We expect to have these in market before our discounted tolling period ends, he said. Our customers experience is extremely important to us and we will continue work with them to improve our product. Mr Lattimore said from 18 April 2013 tolls would rise to $2.90 for cars for the two shorter sections city (Bowen Hills) to northern suburbs (Kedron) and northern suburbs to airport (Toombul) and $3.75 for the full length (city to airport) before reaching the levels set by the concession deed with the Queensland Government in October 2013. BrisConnections is providing 15 months of free and discounted tolling to enable Brisbane motorists to get to know and experience the benefits AirportlinkM7 has to offer, he said. More than six million vehicles have enjoyed the benefits to date and I look forward to this next stage in our operation.
