LOCatION
In the northern section of the NamibRand Nature Reserve 180 000 hectares (445 000 acres) on the eastern boundary of the Namib Naukluft National Park, near Sossusvlei in Namibia. As this is a privately owned reserve, access is exclusive to guests.

By scheduled daily charter flight to &Beyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodges private airstrip or by vehicle on good gravel roads. During the rainy season, (Nov to May) it is advisable to use a 4x4 vehicle on the routes from Swakopmund (400km/248 miles) or Windhoek (380km/236 miles). The airstrip is six minutes from the Lodge.

Guest aCCOMMODatION
Ten spacious stone and glass desert villas are located at the foot of a mountain overlooking an expansive Namib grass plain that leads into a sea of hills and red sand dunes. Each air conditioned suite is furnished to complement the majestic hues of the oldest living desert in the world. Boasting a private veranda, split level sitting area with fireplace, star-viewing window above the bed, ensuite glass-encased bathroom with shower and an outdoor shower. The suites are equipped with personal bar, CD system and a spotting scope.

Guest saFetY
The lodge is not fenced off, and we request guests to be extremely vigilant at all times. Under no circumstances is a guest to walk around the lodge/camp at night, unless accompanied by a security guard.

Guest areas
The split-level main lodge is an ensemble of glass and stone curves with walls of windows maximising the awesome desertscape. There are quiet hideaways, viewing decks, a bar, fireplace, dining room, well stocked wine cellar, main sitting room and terrace, viewing deck, Safari Shop, observatory and rim-flow pool.

Nature drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles on the NamibRand Nature Reserve. Closed air conditioned vehicle excursions to Sossusvlei and the Sesriem Canyon (approximately 7-hour round trip). Guided nature walks and marked hiking trails. Guided fourwheel motorbike (ATV) excursions into the dunes (Children aged 16 and older). Stargazing from the lodges sophisticated observatory. Hot air ballooning and scenic flights over the Namib Desert (additional cost).

Weather in Namibia: Temperature:

It rains in summer (Jan to March). Average rainfall varies from less than 50mm/2 per year along the coast to 350mm/13 in the central region. Daytime summer temperatures can rise to 42C/107F and drop to around 18C/65F at night. Winter days are sunny and mild to warm with temperatures of about 32C/90F, which may drop to as low as 5C/41F at night. All year round. Sossusvlei Desert Lodge is in a Malaria-free area. Children are welcome. Regretfully, children 5 years and younger cannot participate in the scheduled safari activities. Childminders can be booked at an additional cost. Children aged 6 to 11 years are accommodated on scheduled safari activities at the lodge managers discretion. An extra bed can be arranged for a child sharing its parents desert villa. No more than one triple at any one time. Children under the age of 16 cannot participate in ATV excursions. Private gravel airstrip. Coordinates are 244811 S and 155329 E 1 to 2 Open year round
