Lica i nalija grada


Vie od jednog desetljea slikarica mlaeg narataja Sonja Marjanovi nazona je u hrvatskoj likovnoj sceni. Ova umjetnica realizirala je prepoznatljivo djelo kojega karakterizira kultivirani slikarski postupak i jasnoa estetskoga ishodita. No, kad istiemo injenicu da je realizirala djelo itka i prepoznatljiva izraza, tada nastojimo naglasiti i tu njezinu sastavnicu kao onu koja to djelo- ipak - determinira. Naime, batinei iskustvo apstraktnoga slikarstva, napose pak onoga geometrijske provenijencije u minulom razdoblju od jednoga desetljea, ova je umjetnica vrlo decidirano provodila svoju koncepciju uvrujui realnu znaajku u bitnu karakteristiku djela. Takoer, u nekoliko je tematskih cjelina izraavala i svoje kreativne mogunosti ispisujui initrigantnim inaicama zanimljive rezultate. U kontekstu onih vrijednosti koje je odredila estetske geometrijske apstrakcije, Sonja Marjanovi znalaki je zatvarala svoja istraivanja u koherentne cikluse, a to, dakako, nije ovu umjetnicu sprjeavalo da se priblii i drugim estetskim iskustvima, primjerice onima minimal arta. Rije je, dakako, o slikarici koja gradi svoju koncepciju na postmodernistikim zasadama ispitujui mogunosti svoje autorske individualnosti. U tom e kontekstu i realizirati nekoliko ciklusa ulanavajui ih u cjelinu stvaralakoga procesa. Tako e njezino slikarstvo nalaziti poticaja u krajoliku ne teei njegovoj deskripciji ve sintetikoj sublimiranoj interpretaciji. Ova e njezina prvotna nastojanja rezultirati vrijednim ostvarenjima koja e biti poticajna u daljnjem radu. Kasnije e ta iskustva biti impostirana i njezinim drugim ciklusom, onim u kojemu e tematizirati horizontalnim varijacijama. Dakako da prijeeni put nee biti zaboravljen, a niti na bilo koji nain stavljen u stranu! Naprotiv, prije bismo mogli govoriti o snanoj povezanosti meu ciklusima i njihovom ispreplitanjnu i proimanju. I u ovom zadnjem ciklusu, u kojem Sonja Marjanovi unosi neka svoja prijanja iskustva i spoznaje, prepoznaje se onaj isti stvaralaki postupak. Dakle, autorica ustraje na poznatim estetskim vrijednostima obogaujui i produbljujui slikarski izraz. Takoer u tim se inovacijama i primjenama iitava logian i utemeljen iskorak. U minimalistikoj estetici evidentna je dosljedna realizacija koncepta koji, potujui tonsku skalu, rafinirano poantira strukturu. Zanimljivo je da ovaj ckilus radi u kvadratnoj formi naglaavajui njegovu postmodernistiku sastavnicu, i to onu koja akceptira princip serije mutirajui brojnim inaicama nijansirane varijacije. U plavoj, smeoj, crnoj, zelenoj... boji kompozicija pulsira dinaminijim impliciranjem i proimanje okomica i horizontala, otvarajui se imaginarnim prostorima grada. Nedvojbeno se otkriva i snano asocijativno podruje umreeno u gradsku svakodenvnicu, primjerice onoga pod svjetlima velegrada, njegove none poetike i tajanstvenosti kao magine privlanosti. Dakako da shematizacija plohe priziva gradske ulice i trgove, njegove arhitektonske i urbanistike vizije... I u ovom je ciklusu- valja istaknuti- Sonja Marjanovi potvrdila batinska iskustva kao i steena znanja uvrujui ih kao vrijednost u svojemu stvaralatvu.

Two sides of the city


Sonja Marjanovi, a painter of the younger generation, has been present on Croatian art scene for over a decade. Her work is characterized by a uniquely cultivated painterly process and aesthetic clarity. When we emphasize the fact that her work is characterized by clear and recognizable expression, we deliberately stress this factor as the determining one. Having inherited the experience of abstract painting, more precisely of geometric abstraction from the past decade, the artist very decisively develops her conception and establishes realistic features as an important trait of her work. Moreover, she has explored her creative potential using intriguing variants to achieve interesting results. In the context of values determined by the aesthetics of geometric abstraction, Sonja Marjanovi expertly rounded off her explorations into coherent cycles, which never prevented her from closely experiencing different kinds of aesthetics, e.g. that of minimal art. Sonja Marjanovi is a painter who builds her conception on postmodernist ideas while exploring the potentials of her artistic individuality. In this context she has created several interconnected cycles. Her painting was first inspired by landscape. However, she did not attempt to describe landscape, but to sublimate it and interpret it synthetically. Her initial endeavors had valuable results and served as an impetus for her subsequent work. Later on, this experience affected her second cycle, the one in which she works with horizontal variations. The path she has already traveled will certainly not be forgotten or denied! On the contrary, we should better speak about the strong connection between the cycles, about their interweaving and interfusion. In this most recent cycle, Marjanovi introduces some of her earlier experiences and discoveries and we recognize the same creative process. Clearly, although the artist enriches and deepens her painterly expression she does not abandon acknowledged aesthetic values. Her artistic innovations and alterations strike us as a logical and founded step forward. Her minimalist aesthetics provides evidence of consistency when it comes to the realization of her concept: while fully respecting the tonal scale, she subtly emphasizes the structure. It is interesting to note that she paints this cycle in the square format, thus stressing its postmodernist component: the principle of a series of numerous mutated variants of nuanced variations. Blue, brown, black, green... composition pulsates due to dynamic interfusion of vertical and horizontal lines. It opens up to imaginary urban spaces. It is beyond doubt that these paintings reveal a powerful associative field which is part of the citys netting: the lights of the big city, its nocturnal poetics, mystery and magical attraction. Schematized planes evoke city streets and squares, visions of its architects and urban planners... Sonja Marjanovis painting reaffirms abstract painting heritage and combines it with her personal experiences and knowledge.

Sonja Marjanovi Roena je 23.srpnja 1970. u Zagrebu. Nakon zavrene kole za primjenjenu umjetnost i dizajn u Zagrebu, 1989. godine upisala je Studij dizajna na Arhitektonskom fakultetu Sveuilita u Zagrebu. 1997. godine upisala je poslijediplomski studij Upravljanja poslovnim marketingom na Ekonomskom fakultetu Sveuilita u Zagrebu te uspjeno magistrirala 1999. godine. Izradom i dizajniranjem skulptura i satova od keramike te slikanjem bavi se ve vie od deset godina. Was born 23 July 1970 in Zagreb, Croatia. She finished Art Design School iz Zagreb. 1989 she goes to enroll into Study of Design at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Zagreb and successfully completing it in 1994. 1999 she finished Post Diploma Study in Business Marketing at University of Zagreb, Faculty of Economics. For the past ten years she has been creating and designing sculptures in ceramics and painting oil on canvas.
