Neuburger English 101-135 24 September 2012 Descriptive Essay Fun on a Ship As I take my first step onto the huge ship, a chill slithers down my spine like a snake. Ive been waiting for months, though it feels like decades, and we are finally boarding the Carnival Cruise Ship. My parents, grandparents, sister, and I walk around and check the ship out for a few hours. I feel like a princess, and all the workers are my servants. I dont think there is anything better than this. The saying time flies is very true because this day couldnt have gone by any faster. Its 7 oclock now, and Im almost ready for supper. My dad is sitting on the rather small bed, waiting for his three girls who take forever when it comes to getting ready. We walk to the other end of the ship and get on the elevator and head up to the Lido Deck, the ninth floor of the ship. The Lido Deck is where we have to go for dinner. I am so surprised when they hand me my menu. Salmon, chicken parmesan, lobster, crab, and many more things and I get to eat whatever I want and as much as I want. The desserts look even better; apple pie and a chocolate melting cake. I have a feeling that supper is going to be my favorite time of the day. Just when I think the night is about over, I over hear my parents talking about what were going to do next. I cant believe its 9 oclock and were still doing stuff. We walk down a couple flights of stairs into the lobby of the ship and go to a back room where there is a show. Tonight, its a comedian and he is really funny. During the show, one of the waitresses refills my

Moore 2 drink, a virgin pin colada, and asks me if I want something to eat. Im beginning to think these people want me to get fat. The next morning I open my eyes as my dad wakes up me and my sister. I think Im just going to lay here for a while because Im as tired as a bear during hibernation. My mom is out of the shower so I suppose I should get in and wash away my first day as a guest on the Carnival ship and get ready for my second day full of fun. I get ready and head out the door towards the place where someone is supposedly going to entertain me and bunch of other 14-year-olds. Unfortunately, Im the oldest kid here. All these kids are twelve, and Im not quite old enough for the other group, 15 through 18 year-olds. This is definitely my first and last time coming here. I think from now on I will just hang out with my family. Its finally over so I walk around and see what else there is to do. A few rooms down theres an arcade room that has every arcade game imaginable. I run down to my room and force my dad and grandpa to come play hunting games with me. They, of course, come with me. Bring your money, I say. We fly back up to the 8th floor of the ship and start playing the hunting games. Im killing more deer than both of them combined. Were having so much fun, we lose track of time. It is almost time for supper so I have to sprint down to get ready. Its the third day of the cruise, and I have already had a blast and there is much more fun around the corner. Cozumel is our first stop, and we get to go on a jeep tour of the island. I put my swimming suit on so fast and now have to wait on everyone else to get ready. Everyone is finally ready so we get off the boat and head to the jeeps. They dont have tops so the wind whips through my hair. We stop at about three beaches and head back to the ship. This day is over, but my adventure isnt over yet.

Moore 3 Day four is here already and we are in Jamaica. My mom, my grandpa, and I are going on a horse-back ride, while my grandma, my dad, and my sister go on a shopping trip because none of them like horses. We take a bus to our destination and the horses look like skeletons. They look like they could use some food, but its probably because they walk around all day, every day. The Jamaicans have us get up on a platform to get on the horses so its easier for us to get on them. We take a trail that has been walked about a million times by these unhealthy horses. When we get to the top of the hill that weve been climbing for about thirty minutes, we are looking over the magnificent, blue ocean. I can see everything from up here; its beautiful. Ive never seen anything like it. We get back to the place we started at, and the Jamaicans take off the saddles and have us get back on the weak horses so we can take a stroll through the water. Its pretty hard to stay on without floating off the horses bony back. We rode back to the ship on a bus that smelled like rotten eggs and sweaty gym socks but that made the experience more humorous. Its our fifth day on this huge ocean, and its our last stop until we head back home. Grand Caymen is beautiful and the ocean is so clear. Even at what looks like 100 feet deep, I can see the bottom of the ocean. We stroll down to the beach where we are picked up on a small boat and taken to a pirate ship that is anchored down about a quarter mile from the beach. When we get there, the pirates make my sister and all the kids her age scrub the poop deck. This entire pirate ship is really awesome, and they let us jump off the plank into the water as much as we want. We ride back to the beach and get to just lie around and do nothing for the rest of the day. My sister and I run down to the water and jump as far as we can. I walk back up to the beach and feel the sand between my toes. The sand squeezes out between each of my piggys and I dont

Moore 4 think I could ever forget this wonderful feeling. We are having so much fun and I wish it didnt have to end, but every good thing must come to an end. My dad tells us to come up and dry off so we can go back to the ship. On our way back, I turn around and take a picture with my mind so I will never forget Grand Cayman. It has been my favorite place we have gone and I hope to come back some day. This cruise has been such a wonderful experience and I hope that one day I can go on another one. I love going to different places I have never been before. I will never forget this week as long as I live and I hope can tell my future children and grandchildren about this amazing adventure.
