1. Create a new Logic project (1) 2. Name and save the project as Your Initials Studio test. Save the project to your Logic folder. (1) 3. Explain how to copy and back up work for further sessions and work elsewhere (1). 4. Create two audio tracks (1). 5. Name the audio tracks according to instrument and mic choice/placement (1). 6. Using a loop, create guide/click track which lasts for at least 64 bars (1). 7. Set up a headphone mix of this guide track in the live room (4). 8. Select two microphones to make a recording of an acoustic guitar. (2) 9. Set up two microphones in a position which will facilitate a clear and focused capture of the sound source. (2) 10. Communicate with the live room using the mixing desks talkback facility (2). 11. Route your microphone inputs to subgroups 1 and 2 on the mixing desk (4). 12. Set Logics inputs to record the two mic signals simultaneously and record enable the tracks (4). 13. Check and adjust input recording levels (4). 14. Monitor (check by listening) the individual mic input channels first and then groups/busses on the desk to make sure the signals from the microphones are clear and focused and there are no problems in the signal

path (eg. two mics routed to the same group or a poor sounding mic). You will need to place the appropriate signal in the LR mix and remove other signals from the LR mix in order to check these signals. (4) 15. Make a recording of the guitar (1). 16. Check the capture quality of each recording (2) 17. Up to 5 extra marks will be allotted for overall workflow, efficiency attention to detail and file management. For example: saving after recording, clear communication with live room, remembering to take care with headphone levels, keeping channels muted when mics are plugged in and out, using Logic efficiently and quickly, general problem solving.
