    Ed Farrier recalled painting the football bleachers with Bill East when they decided to smoke cigarettes, thinking no one would see. Their principal R.B. Casey came out and said he thought the bleachers were on fire, telling the boys that if any smoking was done, he would be the one to do it.

    Ed Farrier Class of 1954

    Bill East and I were painting the bleachers on the football field; we decided to light up a cigarette, thinking no one would see. R.B. Casey came out and said, Boys, I thought the bleachers were on fire. Now, if there is any smoking done here, I will do it. Submitted for the "OHS: 90 Years of Memories" event held May 12, 2012, to commemorate Oakland High School in Oakland, Illinois.
