FUNDS REQUIRED

A request for donation for a School at Remote area of Junction of Hub and District Kemari which has Children of Fishers man enrolled. The total funding required is about 3000 dollars to purchase chairs, desks and other relevant material. As winter approaches it is essential that these kids receive education in a much better environment and it is not an amount that we cannot raise in Perth alone. Please let me know of any ideas that you may have to raise funds for this school run by Child Health and Education Foundation. This can be a project for our upcoming Australia Day program in Pakistan.

ZONTA CLUB OF PERTH ORGANISED CULTURAL AWARENESS DAY ON 27th OCTOBER.

An invitation was received last month to speak to the members and guests of Zonta club of Perth as part of their cultural awareness day along with Ruth Sims, Mehdi Nawa and Lily Chen. With mere 29 members this club has been instrumental in undertaking a number of projects and we hope to collaborate with them in future. 1. Zonta Holidays - in the 1980s the club had a major fundraising drive and invested funds so that the interest raised could be used in perpetuity to fund holidays for disadvantaged families in need. Through the club's relationship with the Rotary Club of East Albany, accommodation is arranged through its Friendship House. Dozens of families have benefited from these holidays. Referrals are usually made through social work departments of hospitals. 2. Zonta House Refuge - the club provides financial and professional support to this women's refuge that provides support to women without children through crisis assistance, homeless support, and education and outreach programs. The Zonta House Refuge Association administers the refuge and there are three Zontians on its board, including two from our club. The refuge has helped thousands of women since it officially opened in 1984. Members regularly collect toiletries, clothing and furniture for the women at the refuge

RESEARCH THE 'NOT YOURS TO PROMISE' CHILD FORCED MARRIAGE PROJECT

The National Children's and Youth Law Centre (NCYLC) is undertaking Australia's first national research into child forced marriage. The aim of the research is to establish how community service providers and other relevant organisations currently respond to incidents of child forced marriage. We will then evaluate the current responses against the relevant child care and protection frameworks, write a report about our findings and create best practice guidelines for community service providers that will assist them in responding to victims of child forced marriage. We will also develop a range of educational resources on the issue. DEFINITIONS For the purposes of this project, forced marriage is defined as marriage entered into without the free and full consent of both parties. It is distinct from an arranged marriage, where the families of the spouses play a dominant role in arranging the marriage, but the spouses have the right to accept or refuse the arrangement. A forced marriage of a child is a marriage of a person under 18 years of age without the free and full consent of that child. An Australian child citizen is a person under 18 years of age who is entitled to reside permanently in Australia. TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SURVEY http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/notyourstopromise
