MINUTES - PIMA COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY - LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT 30

Organizational Meeting – December 6, 2008 – Pima County Democratic Party Headquarters, Tucson

Welcome: Chair Laura Hogan called the meeting to order at 10:02AM. Linda Hatfield led attendees in the Pledge of
Allegiance. Introductions followed.

Minutes: The minutes of the October 4, 2008 meeting, prepared by Vice-Chair Henry Johnson, were approved as submitted.

Treasurer’s Report: Jim Hodge’s closing financial statement for 2008 showed a balance of $61.71 as of December 2, 2008.
Jim was unable to attend, but his retirement announcement in October was followed by rounds of appreciative applause.

Chairs’ Report:. Laura spoke of the accomplishments of LD30 and briefly discussed the November election. Laura thanked
PCS for their work and acknowledged LD30 officers and candidates with both words and a gift!

New Business: None

Appointment of the Election Committee: Laura Hogan explained that there is a preference to have non-LD30 members
serve on the election Committee. Mohur Sidwa, Wood Sanders and Roger White agreed to serve as tellers.

Nominating Committee Report: The Nominating Committee, (Frank Bergen-Chair, Katie Maass and Ermaline Hannum)
proposed a slate of candidates for positions other than State Committee Members as follows:

Chair Suzanne Newton, Pct 181. Tucson (replacing Laura Hogan)


First Vice Chair Pat Canady, Pct 389, Tucson (replacing Henry Johnson)
Second Vice Chair David Hosea, Pct 297, Green Valley (replacing Alex Mich)
Secretary Jan Prileson, Pct 88, Tucson (replacing Marla Daugherty)
Treasurer Alex Mich, Pct 241, Tucson (replacing Jim Hodges)
Pima Co Exec Comm Laura Hogan, Pct 221, Vail (Laura and Bonnie to replace
Pima Co Exec Comm Bonnie Richards, Pct 297, Green Valley Peggy Pierce and Bob Schwartz)

Legislative District 30 Democratic Club officers are elected for a two year term. The nominated parties listed above
were all elected. Details follow:

Chair Laura Hogan presided over the election of her replacement. With no nominations from the floor Suzanne Newton
was elected by acclimation of elected Precinct Committeepersons in attendance.

Newly elected chair, Suzanne Newton, presided over the meeting (and elections) following her election.

Positions of First Vice Chair, Second Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer received no nominations from the floor. Pat
Canady (First Vice Chair), David Hosea (Second Vice Chair), Jen Prileson (Secretary) and Alex Mich (Treasurer) were
all elected by acclimation of elected Precinct Committeepersons in attendance.

LD30 has two representatives on the Pima County Executive Committee. In addition to the nominations of Laura Hogan
and Bonnie Richards (placed on the ballot by the Nominating Committee), Steve Gall was nominated from the floor. Laura
Hogan was elected outright on the first secret ballot. A second ballot was needed to break the tie between Bonnie
Richards and Steve Gall. Bonnie Richards was elected on the second ballot.

LD30 has 26 slots in the Arizona State Committee. Of these 26, 24PCs (listed below) were elected by acclimation.
Suzanne will appoint Kathy Killeen and David Olvera to the remaining positions (pending their acceptance). The State
Committee reorganizantion meeting will be held Saturday, January 24, 2009 in Phoenix.

Newly elected State Committee members: Vera Berkman, Pat Canady, Marla Daugherty, Andrea Dalessandro,
Mary Jane Dyson, Leroy Dyson, Steve Gall, Linda Hatfield, Laura Hogan, David Hosea, Henry Johnson, Mark Kerr,
Anita Klever, Don Kret, Alex Mich, Paula Mich, Suzanne Newton, Jennifer Prileson, Bonnie Richards, Dennis
Rivera, Bob Schwartz, Georgette Valle, Connie Woodbrey, Jim Woodbrey.

Miscellaneous wrap-up discussion ensued including remarks of appreciation to Laura Hogan from Georgette Valle for her
work in growing LD30 during her term of office.

No January Meeting! Because of the upcoming holidays, the Pima County Democratic Party reorganization meeting on
January 10, the Inauguration of President Barack Obama on November 20 and the State Committee Meeting on January 24,
it was determined that LD30 will not meet in January. The next meeting will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2009, location
to be determined.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:15PM.
