Some say that campaign ads are getting just ridiculous. But now its taken a turn to the truly bizarre. An Indiana man has auctioned off space on the side of his head, where he tattooed Mitt Romneys presidential campaign Rlogo in a 5-by-2-inch spot for a bid of $15, 000. Eric Hartsburg posted the eBay listing in August, and told ABC News that he was paid $15,000 by a Republican eBay user, who preferred to remain anonymous,togettheRomneylogopermanentlyinkedonthesideofhis head. Hartsburg, who is an Indiana native, told ABC News that he agreed because the tattoo was something that he could live with. The latest ABC News election race ratings map shows Indiana firmly solidly red. See all ABC News race ratings HERE. I am a registered Republican and a Romney supporter,Hartsburg said. I didnt mind getting this tattoo because it is something that I could live with and its something that I believe in. He wasnt so enthusiastic about all of the bids he was offered. Hartsburg, whose fresh ink is only three days old, said that he actually rejected the highest bid because it was lewd.His only requirement for bidding on the ad spacewas that it could not be racist or offensive. Hartsburg says that the whole thing was done as a gag but now he believes his new tat has a purpose. He says he is trying to educate people on his beliefs. In the beginning it was done for gags and publicity, but now I see it as a way to encourage young people to vote.He continued, We have so many rights that we dont utilize and young people need to exercise that right. The 30-year-old professional wrestler says that he wants his tattoo to send a message to young people. I want young people to know that its O.K. to be

young, and its O.K. to be a Republican. You dont have to be rich or elderly to be labeled as a Republican, and I want everyone to know that. When asked about the reaction to his ink from the general public, Hartsburg admits that a lot of people look at him as a monster. A lot of people look at me and think I am the boogey man.He admits, Ive gotten a few F- yous from people. The rebellious wrestler isnt going to stop at his Romney tattoo, though. He is now auctioning off his forehead space as well, but this time he is doing a private auction rather than using eBay. The minimum bid for this prime real estate is $5, 000. When asked if he would get an Obama tattoo stamped on his forehead if requested by the highest bidder, Eric Hartsburg says that was one question he wasnt prepared to answer. No one has ever asked me that,he said. That is one question that I wasnt prepared to answer. But no, no, I would definitely not get an Obama tattoo. The Republican platform will pursue dirty coal, dismantle the protections of the EPA, give carte blanche to the fossil fuel industry, allow national parks to decline and sell off much of the land (while not taxing the 1% who earn 80% of the income), and many other environmentally hostile measures. Some people can feign outrage at just about anything. Its ironic that the people who think he is pathetic for having that tattoo look even more pathetic by caring enough to trash it.
