AN ACT CONCERNING Consideration of Racial Identity by Educational Institutions FOR the purpose of prohibiting the consideration of race, ethnicity or national origin in public education BY adding to Article Education Division I. Definitions, General Provision Title 1. Definitions, General Provision Subtitle 2. General Provisions 1-203. Prohibited Acts Annotated Code of Maryland SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE MARYLAND STUDENT LEGISLATURE that the laws of Maryland read as follows: 1-203. PROHIBITED ACTS (A) GENERALLY. THE DEPARMENT, STATE BOARD, COUNTY BOARDS, PUBLIC SCHOOLS, PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND OTHER PUBLIC EDUCATIONAL AUTHORITIES MAY NOT INCLUDE CONSIDERATIONS OF RACE, ETHNICITY OR NATIONAL ORIGIN IN ANY CAPACITY REGARDING STUDENTS. SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this act shall take effect on June 1, 2012.
