Influence of Word of God in our Daily Life

Apostle John in his gospel refers to WORD as the source of Life and light to the mankind. He also mentions that world was made though Word and this Word came to the world in the form of human being full of Grace and Truth but the world did not recognize Him. Here John was referring Word to Jesus Christ. Word = Jesus Christ John 6:63 says The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life. So this means the words which Jesus speaks are spirit which contained life. Word is also source of Life. Jesus came to this world to give Life. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.- John 10:10 So all the three the Word, Spirit and Jesus are the source of Life which means they all are one. Word = Spirit = Jesus Christ From this we can believe that a person who is full of word is full of spirit and is carrying the one (Jesus Christ) who is greater than the one (father of lies) who is in the world. So we need to meditate the Word of God which has many benefits, I have summarized few of them below. 1. Word Builds Faith: Without faith no one can please God, as it is said in Hebrews 11:6. In order to please God you need to have faith. This faith can be built by Word of God. Romans 10:17 says So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. Jesus is the only one who can build faith in us through His Word. Hebrews 12:2 Says Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; So faith is an important element in a mans life as it has the power to move mountains and uproot the kingdom of darkness from the midst of mankind.

2. Word keeps us far from sin: A person who is a good mediator of Word of God can have dominion over sin. He will not sin till he meditates the Word. But when the process of meditating

the Word of God stops slowly we start to repeat the same old sins. One such example is about David who is referred to as Man after Gods own heart. He is to go to a War but instead he is at home lazily wandering over the roof top. Probably he might have been in a dry season without meditating the Word. Though he is writer of so many beautiful psalms, a great worshipper, the one who prayed seven times, and above all Man after Gods own heart had to commit a sin. Instead of resisting he had entertained the sin. This happens even in our day to day life, when we have a long gap of reading the word we commit some of our past pet sins. Our secular lives make us so busy that we go far from word which is nothing but going far from Jesus. So staying far from Word is getting closer to sin.

3. Word gives us Revelation: The Word gives us revelation of the God. Our life time is not at all sufficient to know about God completely. Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. Psalms 119:18. So in order to know the goodness of the Lord and to see His wonderful things we need to read the word and know about Him. When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart's delight, for I bear your name, O LORD God Almighty. Jeremiah 15:16. We would be always a step away from the breakthrough if we dont have a revelation. 4. Word helps us to succeed: Word helps us to succeed in all that we do. This was the instruction given to by God to Joshua. Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. - Joshua 1:8 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.- Psalms 1:1-2 5. Word helps us to know the Truth: Especially during these days we need to know the difference between a false prophet and the true prophet. Many will come in the name of the God show miracles, false signs and deceive even the elect. So we need to have a through knowledge of the Word. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.- John 8:32. So if we need to know the truth we need to read the word of God. Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1. Once in a Book I read about Kenneth E Hagin who once was praying for a person, he had a divine visitation of Jesus Christ and Jesus said to him not to pray anymore for that person. Instead Kenneth E Hagin says if you show me three scriptures in Bible then only I would believe. Jesus shows him and gives confirmation. So even we also should test every thing with reference to the Word of God. Even an angel or Jesus himself appears we need to make a confirmation with the Word of God. Because sometimes deceiver comes in the form of angel of light and may deceive us.

6. Word solves our Problem: For every problem Word has the answers. We can be prosperous, healthy, happy, peaceful, etc when we know the right scripture for any problem we face. Though some of us know the scriptures we confine them to a wall poster or a scripture for decorating our church wall. But it comes into manifestation when we write it in our hearts and believe them. It fails because we do not believe the Word. I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death. - John 8:51 7. Word helps to resist the Devil: One can resist the devil when he is fully equipped with the Word of God. Satan comes to tempt Jesus when He completes 40 day fast, but Jesus refutes Satan by quoting scriptures. Even Joseph was being tempted by Satan in the form of Potiphars wife but Joseph says how can I sin against the Lord. This means he is having the knowledge that God hates adultery and hence he was meditating on those words which had kept Him far from falling into that sin. But Adam and Eve couldnt resist so they fell into sin. So we need word to resist the devil through Word. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7
