Jazz in Sixs Holden Ross Named to Florida Bandmasters Association All-State Jazz Band for Second Straight Year

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA 11.04.12 - GNUStar artist Holden Ross, the band leader and tenor saxophonist of the combo Jazz in Six, was named to the Florida Bandmasters Association AllState Jazz Band today. This is Ross second appearance in a row with the elite band of Floridas top high-school age jazz musicians, one of the toughest auditions in the country. More than 3,500 students from around the state are recorded at local sites with a blind-ID number for the recording to prevent names from inuencing the judges, high school band masters and professional musicians from Florida and Georgia.

Summer Jazz Workshops in Palm Beach under the direction of Professor Ron Blake. Holden has been playing the Saxophone for eight years. In that time he has been named to the Palm Beach County Florida Bandmasters Associations AllDistrict Bands, both in middle school, and all four years of high school (three in their toptier band.), and received two Certicates of Excellence from the Jazzonian Young Jazz Leaders event. He has studied with local and national jazz professionals Allan Finn, Michael Forte, and Prof. Gary Keller of the UM Frost School of Music.

Ross is a senior at the A.W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he is the rst chair tenor saxophonist in the schools elite Jazz Ensemble 1 under the direction of Mr. Pedro Hernandez, and the section leader of the saxophones in their top concert band, the Wind Ensemble under the direction of Mr. Evan Rogovin. He has also been the rst chair alto saxophonist at the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp jazz band under the direction of Mr. Bill Sears, and in the top band of the Juilliard

This is Holdens second year in the Jazz in Six combo, which has taken straight superiors in both regional and state competitions. He became the band leader of the 2012-2013 edition.
