WHEN I was a kid, if my mother wanted me to do something, she used the threat of punishment. I guess all mothers use this nifty tool. For example, she wanted me to take a bath every day. And I hated taking a bath. Dont ask me why. My eldest son went through that phase too. So there must be a male gene that hated showers. Her solution? Threats of punishment. I dont take a bath, I dont get to watch TV. Which was the most horrific torture beyond imagination. (No Voltes V! No Charlies Angels! No Hawaii 5-0! Can anyone just kill me?) So to comply, I took a shower daily. But believe me, they were as short as humanly possible. Thirty seconds was too long. I barely got damp. Perhaps seven drops of moisture onmy body was enough for me. I usually took a bath during a commercial break from Voltes V. So right after my shower (okay, sprinkle is a better word), I ran out of the bathroom with a towel around my waistnot wanting to miss the gripping part when the five spaceships volt in into one gigantic roboteven if its actually the exact same thing Id watched in hundreds of other episodes. But one day, everything changed in my life. How? When I had a big crush on my classmate Mercedez. All of a sudden, I took a real interest in shower. My mother never noticed, but my sisters wondered why I was in the bathroom for an incredibly long timefifteen minutes! They wanted to use the bathroom, but I was still there rubbing my armpit, making sure I wouldnt stink when I got near cute Cedz that day. There are two motivations in life. Punishment and Reward. Not watching TV was my punishment. Cedz was my reward. Guess which was more effective? Punishment is effective if you want compliance but it isnt effective if you want brilliance. without acting in a manner approved by God is fooling the Creator. Everyone in the community knew Ralph. He was a farmer and family man whose dedication went beyond his own productive fields. He also was known for his greater dedication to what he called Gods harvest field. Ralphs neighbors sometimes consider him foolish, especially over his reluctance to work on Sundays. Instead, he would go to church and focus on family life. Choosing Gods priorities over the crop priorities seemed foolhardy. One Sunday, while neighbors hastily gathered their harvest before a predicted storm, Ralph went to church as usual. Later a neighbor mocked: Think, Ralph, by the end of the month the rest of us will be enjoying a big payoff because of our work. But you may end up with nothing, all because of your work for God. Where will you be then? With quiet confidence, Ralph replied, Working for God has a payoff too, but not necessarily at the end of the month. The question is, when that day comes, where will you be? Which payday takes priority in your life: the one at the end of the month or the day you stand before Christ? As you serve the Lord in your life today, remember this principle: You reap what you soweven more than what you sow. Work that is worthy of reward is the one that endures. God be with you. Shine your light! Eng-joy Him, eng-joy life! Have a fantastic Feast today! In Christ, Bro. Eng (wag uulitin)

Today, we start a brand new series entitled UNLI: Subscribe to Gods Limitless Rewards Plan. Talk 1 Effective Rewards Talk 2 Earthly Rewards Talk 3 Eternal Rewards God wants you to think (even dream) of your rewards. Now is the time to evaluate your goals in life, for one day, the Lord will reward the wise choices youve made. Its not selfish to do so. In fact, He mentioned it many times in the Bible, so He really wants us to think about them. Why? Because He knows that thinking about your rewards is powerful. You will reap what you sow. Life is like farmingyou plant, you harvest. You reap what you sow means people can expect to harvest the fruit of their behavior, just as farmers anticipate harvesting the crops they plant. Therefore, people who go through life sowing kindness and goodness to others will be rewarded for their behaviorif not on earth, then in eternal life. And those who sow bitterness may face punishment. St. Paul said to the Galatians, God is not mocked. This could mean even if great behavior and kindness dont bring earthly rewards, they will certainly bring heavenly ones. But the person who skates through life

Talk 1: Effective Rewards

Whether You Like it Or Not, You Reap What You Sow
2 Corinthians 9:6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Galatians 6:7-8 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Revelation 22:11 ...let him who does right continue to do right; and let him who is holy continue to be holy. Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. 2 Timothy 2:3-7 Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairshe wants to please his commanding officer. Similarly, if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not receive the victors crown unless he competes according to the rules. The hardworking farmer should be the first to receive a share of the crops. Reflect on what I am saying, for the Lord will give you insight into all this. Genesis 15:1 Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward. Personal Reflection and Group Discussion: Can you think of past experiences on how rewards motivated you to do the right thing? _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________ _______________________________

In conclusion of the seires on holy money, holy sex, and holy power, we went on a special Feast break where Bro. Eng reminded us of the real meaning of servants commitment. Each of us has our own boat, symbolizing our comfort zone. We do not grow when we often confine ourselves inside the boat of what we approve or of what we think is safe. As Jesus showed Himself walking on water, buffeted by waves and rough winds, He is assuring the disciples (and us) that we can do anything. Anything is possible if we believe He will see us through lifes difficulties and if we decide to let go of what is holding us from coming to Him. Even if you have little faith, you can walk on water. Barely do we see, however, that our safe zone, which keeps us from fully understanding how God wants to bless every area of our lives, could actually be the most dangerous zone. Jesus is calling us to full commitment. And he who has a why (Jesus) to live can bear almost any how (trials). Or in bro. Engs version, Kapag gusto, may paraan; kapag ayaw, may dahilan. -Jena Diwa
