NORWOOD

RECORD WIN IN FRONT OF A RECORD CROWD

The Indians came into the first hosted playoff game at Shea Stadium against Fenwick as a 22 point underdog. The idea of being an underdog was nothing new to the Indians as they were noted as such nearly all season long. Writers and high school football analysts were heavily favoring the Fenwick Falcon offense and their quarterback all week. But what they didnt realize is that the Norwood community was backing its SBAAC Championship team through and through. The crowd at Shea Stadium was one that many have never seen before. Loud and boisterous, the Norwood community made a great atmosphere for their Indians and a rough one for the Falcons. The Indians started the game out slowly allowing the Falcons to take the opening drive down for a score and then being held to a three and out by the Falcon defense. After the Falcons got another first down the Indians defense held the Falcons to a punt. The falcons tried to fake the punt but were denied by the Indians return team. The Indians immediately put together a scoring drive which was capped off by an Andrew Conover pass to Robert Boston for a 10 yard touchdown. The Falcons and Indians would move the ball back and forth through the first half and end it with a score of 7-7. Norwood seemingly made great adjustments at the half and came out ready to finish the job. The opening drive ended in a touchdown pass from Andrew Conover to Jared Peters for a score allowing the Indians to go up 14-7. The Indians defense came right back with an interception by Robert Boston on the ensuing Flacon possession. From that point, the game was an offense struggle for both teams until Andrew Conover and the Indian offense punch in another score to go th up 21-7 in the 4 quarter. The falcon would later score late in the fourth to give Fenwick hope. But the Indians would be too much on defense for the falcons as Jacob Cook made an very important interception on one possession and the Indians sacked Fenwick quarterback Ricky Davis to seal the win with only seconds remaining. The Indians move on the District 16 Regional Semi-Finals this Friday night against the Milton-Union Bulldogs. The game will be hosted by Kettering Fairmont on Friday night at 7:30. Included is the address to the stadium for those planning to make the drive. Roush Stadium 3301 Shroyer Rd. Kettering, Ohio 45429
