1 Repairs and Reconstruction

U/S head wall has to be shifted for 3 Nos. sluices (13th mile Sluice, 12th mile Sluice and 11th mile Sluice) where U/S filling is proposed and D/S head wall has to be shifted for 3 Nos. sluices (Adaikalamoddai Sluice, Sinnaudaippu Sluice, Periyaudaippu Sluice) where D/S filling is proposed. Kuruvil Sluice has to be reconstructed as there was a piping observed through the barrel in 2004 and temporarily repaired. As this is an ancient tank and the sluice are made of dressed stone masonry it is recommended to maintain the same type for repairs & reconstruction. Considering the availability of funds from NEIAP, it is proposed to have the BTL at 51.5 MSL as stage I and it is proposed to have the BTL at 54 MSL as stage II and funds has to seek from donors. D/S filling is recommended from 3+000 to 7+125 as the Rip-Rap work has been completed almost up to 49.5 ft recently. From 0+000 to 3+000m U/S filling has to be done.

2. Road The existing Jubilee road which is little beyond the toe from 3+000 to 7+125 (Where D/S filling is proposed) has to be repaired. (Filling pothole, gravelling, repairs to drainage crossing and side drainage have to be attended) There is no road on the bund top at present, but it is very necessary to have a road on bund top because the length of the bund is 7.125 km and there are 7 Nos. sluices.
