Pikes Peak Interagency Transition Team Meeting Minutes November 15, 2012 Sonya Teigen called meeting to order

at 1:00 p.m. Presenters included: Pikes Peak United Ways, Shayne McCormick Our House Sign in sheet was passed around. Sonya Teigen read the mission statement for the PPIAT. Presentations: Pikes Peak United Ways, Shayne : Shayne is the Center Manager for 211 connect. He shared that they serve as a 24-7 call center to connect families/individuals to resources in the community. They assist people in El Paso, Teller, Park, Chaffee, and Lincoln counties and the San Luis Valley. Their largest request comes from people seeking financial assistance for utilities. ARCH-Adult Resources for Care and Help thru 211 provides a single contact point for adult individuals that have disabilities and/or are senior citizens to assist them in maintaining maximum independence. VITA-free tax preparation and Earned Income Tax Credit-can assist families in El Paso, Teller and Park counties Our House: Che Frey Che explained that they hoped to announce their EBD program, but have some additional pieces that they need to complete before that will be fully in place. Additional Announcements/Upcoming Events: CLE-College Living Experience: http://www.cleinc.net/home.aspx -have 3 week summer workshop for students at end of Jr or Sr year in high school to assess Independent living skills Brain Dev. Center: -will be incorporated into Carmel Living Experiences Breakthrough Breathwork Meditation: www.breakthroughbreathwork.com Chris and Savanna Cassidy

-offer workshops and individual training to teach people how to use their breathing to provide stress relief, tension reduction, physical healing and self care Workshop: Dec 14th 6:30-9:30pm see website for more information Carmel: New Regional Director for Colo Springs: Marsha Knight -offering computer classes in partnership with Pikes Peak Library District -starting to assist clients with connections at PPCC and testing necessary to access online classes -new Sign Language classes starting (with Cindy Powell who will be changing positions and starting at Carmel effective today-11/16/12 -have ongoing Silent Auction through 12/3 to raise funds for annual Christmas Party that will take place at the ELKS Lodge on Th 12/13 from 11am-2pm DBTAC-Meeting the Challenge: Chantal Woodyard shared that they just help a workshop for D20 transition students and would like to do more events like this. Workshop focused on basic rights and employment

Updates on the Pikes Peak Interagency FairLocation: - Discussion on being held at the Freedom Financial Center on North Nevada. The location is NOT available on the 3rd Thursday of April but is available on April 4 or April 25th. The cost for the facility would be $2500. It was voted to accept the Freedom Financial Center as the venue for the $2500 and for the date of April 25, 2013. They are waiting to get confirmation from the facility that it will be available for us

@last meeting: Per Wilfred Romero PPIAT has a balance of $2911.41 on hand as of August 31, 2012. Randy said the Brain Development Center would pick any PR costs. It was also voted to raise the booth rental rate $25 per table.
