Syllabus For My Online Geometry Class
Syllabus For My Online Geometry Class
Course Name: Course Text: Geometry B Prentice Hall California Geometry ISBN: 0-13-203129-9
Description: Students will develop geometry skill and concept with ability to construct formal, logical arguments and proofs in geometric settings and problems. According to California Standards, these are the major area of importance: Congruence Understand congruence in terms of rigid motions Prove geometric theorems Make geometric constructions Expressing Geometric Properties with Equations Mathematical Practices Use coordinates to prove simple geometric theorems algebraically Geometric Measurement and Dimension Explain volume formulas and use them to solve problems Visualize relationships between two-dimensional and three-dimensional objects Modeling with Geometry Apply geometric concepts in modeling situations Prerequisites: Geometry Semester A Estimated Completion Time: One Semester Questions and Help: Your course counselor will contact you each week to give you the weekly schedule. Any questions that you have regarding the course should be directed to the course counselor. You can contact them by responding to the weekly emails that they send to you. You can also get help by phoning the school at (909) 598-9733 and speaking to your course counselor or personnel in the online department. Assessments and Participation Requirements: Each student is required to participate in all aspects of the course. All lessons, videos, assignments, readings, discussions, quizzes, and tests must be completed within the time constraints allotted. The server monitors time spent on each section of the course and this time will be used to determine the students level of participation.
Homework: All lessons contain homework that must be turned in for grading. All homework must be turned in by the due date to get credit for it. Once the due time has passed, the website will no longer allow students to submit homework, so make sure that you turn in all homework on time. In special circumstances, late work may be accepted for partial credit. However, whether late work is accepted or not is left up to the discretion of your course counselor. Grading: Grades are calculated using the following categories and percentages. Participation = 10% (all activity on the website is monitored and timed by the server) Homework/Assignments = 25% Projects/Essays/Discussions = 25% Quizzes/Tests = 40% Grading Scale: 93 -100% = A 90-92% = A87-89% = B+ 83-86% = B 80-82% = B77-79% = C+ 73-76% = C 70-72% = C67-69% = D+* 63-66% = D* 60-62% = D-* 0-59% = F**
*A grade of D-, D, or D+ qualifies students to use these credits towards high school graduation, but does not qualify them to use the credits when applying to a four-year university. Students can only use these credits when applying to a two-year university. **A grade of F disqualifies the students from using these credits towards graduation. The course must be retaken in order to qualify for graduation.
