The Beautiful Princess and the Fortune-teller

Once upon a time there was a BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS who lived with her father, the GRUFF OLD KING, in a big castle with courtyards and FOUNTAINS and cages of golden CANARIES. But the BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS was not happy. She was lonely, for she had no one to talk to except the GRUFF OLD KING. All day long the BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS sat beside the FOUNTAINS listening to the CANARIES. One day, in a far-off land, a HANDSOME PRINCE felt lonely, too. At night he dreamed of a BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS. All through his dreams, the HANDSOME PRINCE heard the sounds of FOUNTAINS and CANARIES singing. When he awoke, he decided to try to find the BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS of his dreams. The HANDSOME PRINCE called for his HORSE and rode off to look for the BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS. Meanwhile, in another country, a WICKED PRINCE decided that he, too, would search for a BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS to be his bride. The WICKED PRINCE had heard of the GRUFF OLD KING and his castle with FOUNTAINS and CANARIES. The WICKED PRINCE decided that he would buy the BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS, so he rode off on his HORSE carrying a bag of MONEY. Back at the castle, with the FOUNTAINS and the CANARIES, the BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS decided she would visit the FORTUNETELLER. The GRUFF OLD KING told her to save her MONEY, but she called for her HORSES and her carriage and went anyway. As the HORSES thundered off, the BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS waved to the GRUFF OLD KING. The FORTUNE-TELLER smiled and said to the BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS, I see two men in your life. The BEAUTIFUL

PRINCESS smiled. Too many men, the FORTUNE-TELLER said, a HANDSOME PRINCE and a WICKED PRINCE. As the BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS gave some MONEY to the CHICITOARE, the old woman told her, Follow your heart. The BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS rode off in her coach with her HORSES. From the roadway, above the sound of the HORSES, the BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS could hear the CANARIES and the FOUNTAINS. She saw the GRUFF OLD KING standing beside the FOUNTAINS, counting MONEY with the WICKED PRINCE. The GRUFF OLD KING was just about to promise the BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS to the WICKED PRINCE. Suddenly, the sound of a HORSE could be heard. The CANARIES all stopped singing. Only the FOUNTAINS could be heard. Wait! called the HANDSOME PRINCE, I have come to marry the BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS. The GRUFF OLD KING was startled. The WICKED PRINCE was angry. The BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS felt her heart skip a beat as she remembered the words of the FORTUNE-TELLER. (Follow your heart.) Quickly, the BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS motioned to the HANDSOME PRINCE. He rode over on his HORSE and jumped into the carriage beside the BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS. Together they rode off as the CANARIES began to sing. The GRUFF OLD KING shook his head. The WICKED PRINCE picked up his bag of MONEY and rode off on his HORSE. The last sounds to be heard were the FOUNTAINS and the singing CANARIES. The BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS and the HANDSOME PRINCE lived happily ever after. The End
