Optimist Club of Perdido Bay

Grits and Bits

For the Future
2012-2013 November 2012 Club # 29-108 P.O. Box 87 Lillian, AL 36549 Meets Every Saturday Morning at the Lillian Community Club 8:00 AM AL-LA-MS Governor David Mills Lt. Governor Peggy Pope Editor: Sally McKinney-(251) 961-2620 www.lillian.org/ocpb.htm

Our last program of the year was Hope Zeanah, both a member of the OCPB and Principal of the Elberta Elementary School. One of the things that struck me most about Hopes talk was her very apparent caring for her kids. She used the term her kids frequently and passionately. So what does that have to do with us? Well, her kids, the middle school kids and all of the other kids we help are our kids, also. Bringing out the best in kids is our mission and sole reason for being. At the September program review, it was great to hear that every program and fund raiser to help our kids has a caring chairperson and, in many ways, a caring co -chair. With this level of caring displayed, how can we help but be the best we can be in helping our kids? And with the great job everyone did on the Mullet Festival, we have great funding resources this year. Reading has started as well as math tutoring. The fall Bird Banding was successful and the first phase of Jonathan Livingston Seagull is done. Trunk of Treat will be done at the end of the month. Co9ming up soon we have the Ecumenical Food Drive, the Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service and ARC Thanksgiving Dinner. All are on track and headed towards success. On behalf of our kids, thanks to all of the members of the Optimist Club of Perdido Bay for your outstanding service. Yours in Optimism, Ken Sanders

PROMISE YOURSELF to ask everyone you meet to join the most fantastic service organization in Baldwin County THE OPTIMIST CLUB OF PERDIDO BAY

The Optimist Creed

Promise Yourself: To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. O.I.
