Research Methodology

Objectives of study
To find the student view about hostel facility. To know about recent scenario about hostel facilities. To know about student satisfaction toward the hostel. To know which type of social events organized by hostel.

Importance
1. We also learn about the nature of the student and demand of the student. 2. It helps to know that what kind of facilities provided to students in hostel in present time. 3 This survey teach us how to do effective team work because this will become helpful for our co-operate future.

Benefit
Help to student for selection of hostel. It would be helpful for management committee to improving facilities according to students needs. Committee getting feedback about any future strategic about change in hostel. It is helpful for finding problem face by students in hostel and it can be solved. It is helpful for finding facilities provided by hostel in recent time.

Limitation
The research study and the preparation of the project report where through proved and excellent opportunity. Every work has own its limitations and advantages, which are to be kept in mind and faced, while its completion.

Certain limitations that were face during the study and preparation of project work are listed: As my questionnaire was slightly lengthy many refused to answer them whole heartedly and got filled my questionnaire. The information given by the students is totally depends on their mood at that time. Some students doubt in confidentially of research so they just avoided giving the right information. Most of the students are so busy so they did not give proper response.

The time period granted for the project work to be insufficient and the project was to be completed in very hurry.

Introduction of Hostel Facilities


A student going for study away from their home and staying as paying guest and getting all the basic facility is call hostel. Mainly hostel seems in urban areas. Mainly doing management of the hostel by the management committee or may be manage by trust as well. Hostel normally provided by college, social trust, etc.

RESEARCH PROCESS FORMULATING RESEARCH PROBLEM

We are conducting a survey on facilities provided by hostel in Surat to study and analyze that what students wants and which type of facilities they need more. We conducted a survey on this problem. UNITS OF ANALYSIS

We generally considered general students who are staying in hostel so that we can get the reliable result of the survey. TIME AND SPACE BOUNDARIES 1. TIME The survey conducted during the month of September 2009; we have done our survey in just only three days so that we can contribute our time to other part of the project. We contact the respodentant after their study therefore they could allot sufficient time for filling out the questionnaire and there by leading to increase in accuracy of the study. Moreover, the period given to conduct this project could only be satisfied during the month of September. 2. SPACE The entire sample for the study we have taken from Surat as it was time saving and cost effective. Because our sample size is only 60 hostel students. Therefore, we can easily get the respodentant from Surat hostels.

The object of descriptive studying is to learn who, what, when, where.

WHO who is to be surveyed. The answer of this question is, the present students staying in hostel. WHAT what is the object of the survey. The answer of this question is, to find facilities provided by hostel in Surat. WHEN The answer of this question is, during September month of research project undergone for the partial fulfillment of B.B.A. Program. WHERE - The answer of this question is, in the Surat city.

DETERMINING THE SOURCE OF DATA

We have undertaken primary source of data which was collected by the means of a survey as we are conducting this study for the very first time. DESIGNING DATA COLLECTION FORM

We have selected survey method for collecting primary data. In which we undertook personal surveys it is more accurate and reliable as compared to other types of survey. DETERMINING SAMPLING DESIGN AND SAMPLE SIZE

1. SAMPLING DESIGN We has decided to carry out field survey, and in that we have decided to carry out Stratified random sampling. Our survey was drawn from each stratum and we combined our selected sample from given population. 2. SAMPLE SIZE The survey was conducted from the hostel students of Surat. We have distributed the questionnaires among the all members of the group equally. That is we have given 20 questionnaires to each members of the group. The members of the group conduct the survey according to their convenient. They go to the fill-up the

questionnaires from their neighbors, parents, friends, etc. Thereby making sample strength of 60. We choice the sample size not be too large or too less because too large size is time consuming and too less size can give vague results, so we have chosen sample size of 60 persons. REPORT WRITING

This is the last stage of the preparation of project report. Once the data have been tabulated interpreted & analyzed, it was require to prepare report embodying the findings of the research study & his recommendation. The sole objective of the report writing will to present the findings to the concerned authorities.

From survey we found that mainly college and private hostel are, provide hostel in a proportion of 50%. So that we can say that college and private hostel are equally in competition, but university does not provide hostel in Surat city.

As you can see the above chart, it shows that most of the student prefer hostel due to personal reason and it is near to 62 per cent age. In addition, due to hostel facilities, Mgt rules, other reason like, near to college, etc. student prefer hostel for staying.

From above result, mostly student gets motivation from friend group because of mostly students prefer to study with old friends and it is near about 57 per cent age. In addition, other factor regarding motivation is to family (32%), due to facilities (3.33%) and other reason near about 8% like study.

We can see that mostly student lives with 4 or more than 4 room partner due to management rules and regulation and it is near about 60%. And 18.33% student lives with 3 room partner, 6.67% student lives with 2, 11.67% student lives with 1 and rest of the student have no room partner.

From above result we found that mostly 58.33% students belief that girls and boys do not stay in single hostel because it affect students study. And 41.67% student belief that boys and girls stay in single hostel.

From the above result we found that mostly around 61.67% hostel does allow for picnic because they thought that student have to only focused on study. And remaining hostel allows for picnic or tour because they believe that student need some change a part from their study.

From the sample of 60 students, we found that

70% hostel provides library facility, 26.67% hostel provides medical facility, 51.67% hostel provides room service facility, 76.67% hostel provides security facility, 75 % hostel provides play ground facility, 61.67% hostel provides hot water facility, 6.67% hostel provides internet facility, 51.67% hostel provides reading room facility, 70% hostel provides purify water facility,

Moreover, 3.33% hostel provides other facility like television, radio, etc.

From above result, we found that around 92% students gets their meal from inside because of easy availability and less time consuming. And around 8 per cent students gets their meal from outside i.e. hotel, Tiffin, private mesh.

From survey we found that mostly around 70% student prefer regular meal and 30% students prefer jain meal.

You can see that 90% hostel celebrate the different festival, like Navaratri, Uttrayana, Holi, Ganesh Chaturthi, etc. and 10% hostel does not celebrate the fastivals.

From survey, we found that in Surat city mostly hostels charge more than 15000 rupees in a year, ratio is around 68%, and it is journal run by colleges, in 5000-10000 ratio is around 17% and journal run by social trust. By 15.10% students pays around 10000-15000 and it is run by social trust or government itself.

You can see that mainly students require Wi-Fi facility in hostel. It is helpful for student to study purpose and ratio is around 33%. Moreover, after that 19.78% require television facility, 18.46% require computer, 16.92% require air conditioner and 12.53% require movie session. By 1.54%, other facility students require in hostel like DJ in week, reading room, etc.

Conclusion
From the survey We found that students mostly prefer only basic requirement towards their study. In addition, we found that sometimes hostels gave facility but it could not be properly maintain. Mostly hostel provide only basic facilities to students like purify water, security, playground, but it could not be properly maintain, so it increase cost of maintenance. In Surat city, we found that security of hostel is very weak; anybody goes to hostel without permission. We have concluded all the data, which is needy for this project.

Suggestion
We suggest that hostel has to improve their security, provide hot water in winter because some hostel does not provide this facility. Facilities, which are providing by hostel is misuse by the other people. It does not reach to student. Hostel has also provided some extra facility like television, Wi-Fi, computer, etc.
