Alcatel-Lucent 5520 Access Management System (AMS)

R E L E A S E 9 . 0 .1

The Alcatel-Lucent 5520 Access Management System (AMS) is the next-generation element management system for the Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) broadband access product family (Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) and fiber-based IP access). As a state-of-the-art management solution, it provides configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting operations based on a next-generation platform centered on J2EE, as well as a modular architecture. This flexible architecture ensures the accelerated deployment of new network element (NE) releases, enabling faster time-to-market for new services. The thin client graphical user interface (GUI) supports low cost PC-based support for operator stations along with a highly intuitive user interface. With the Alcatel-Lucent 5520 AMS, service providers can enjoy unprecedented usability and reduced operator training requirements. The system comes with a set of productivity tools that simplify operations and further reduce operational expenses.

Features
Java-based thin client to run on standard operator PC desktop User-friendly GUI Modular architecture for faster and flexible NE support Integrated management across the IP/Ethernet access portfolio Flexible user access control and authentication Service-oriented functions that hide technical complexity Advanced set of productivity tools for monitoring, troubleshooting, provisioning and upgrading networks Expandable to broader operational needs through a set of integrated enhanced applications (AlcatelLucent 5529 series) Very high availability through clustering

Scheduling function for NE database backup and NE software download End-to-end security from user interface to NE

Benefits
Significant operating expenditure (OPEX) reduction Reduced learning curve for operators Architecture that adapts to operations organization Faster time-to-market for new services Smooth integration into operations support system (OSS) and IT infrastructure Architecture that grows with the network Scheduling function ensures that up-to-date data is available for NE restore Greater protection from security breaches (hacking)
