Math with Mr. Vantiem

This past week students have been working on adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing with fractions in course 2 of Holt mathematics. Students have multiplying and dividing fractions and mixed numbers homework to do over the break. In course 3 we finished up our trig projects and had the Chapter 4 test so unless they didn't finish the review they don't have any homework. In both math classes we are working on solving more word problems.

Language Arts with Ms. Textor

This past week in class, students are typing up the final copy of their story. Final stories are due on the 21st ELECTRONICALLY ONLY. Each class had time in class Monday and Tuesday to type their papers. All students also needed to turn in their graphic organizers, rough drafts, peer edits and checklist. With book clubs; students had their weekly quiz on the most recent chapters read in class, five and six. When students return from break we will spend the rest of our winter time together finishing The Hunger Games. Students will be receiving a calendar that will state what they are doing every day until winter break begins. This way all students will finish the book before winter break than leaving the 2012 school year with a few chapters to go. Please be on the lookout for these calendars to come home to you next week!

Students are making a gratitude jar over the course of the month to list things they appreciate in life and are happy for. We encourage you to talk to your student at home about their class gratitude jar.
