News From Room 207

Week of 11/26/12
Our class would like to help Josue and Dariana from the Chandler Magnet School in Worcester to stay warm this winter! The Worcester Public School Volunteer Office has been sponsoring a program called Coats for Kids for the last several years. It allows individuals and/or groups to purchase a winter coat, hat, mittens, and/or gloves for a specific needy child who has been identified by the school system. I am encouraging our class to participate by choosing to do extra chores/jobs this week (beyond your family expectations) in your household or for neighbors to earn money. I will use this money to purchase clothing for our children. Our Metric Olympics was a complete success. Metric measurements were used for the cotton ball shot put, paper plate discuss throw, drinking straw javelin throw, wind-up dinosaur walk and frog jump. Your children showed self-control and sportsmanship throughout the exciting event. Thank you to Mrs. Richardson, Mrs. Refolo and Mrs. McManus for helping out. Lastly, Mr. Lividini spoke with us on Friday about immigration and how he came to live in the United States.

As the weather becomes increasingly colder, please be sure your children are dressed appropriately for outside recess. Your children should have on a jacket if they wish to go outside for recess. Hats and mittens are also a great idea. I hope you all had a safe and relaxing Thanksgiving break. I am looking forward to a wonderful week! Warmly, Sandra Travers
