8. PLACEMENT PREFERENCE
WWF-SAs work is organised around 3 strategic objectives, namely securing ecological assets; (ii) securing the integrity of ecosystems that support social and economic wellbeing; and (iii) building climate resilience and various programmes, including the Freshwater, Sustainable Fisheries, Sustainable Agriculture, Fynbos and Grasslands Landscape Programmes, the

Sustainable Business Programme, various climate change programmes focused on mitigation and adaptation, the transition to a low carbon economy and hosts and the Environmental Leaders Programme that develops leaders for the above. In addition, various corporate functions support the strategic environmental work at WWF-SA, such as Finance and Business, Human Resources, Business Development and Communications and Marketing. Towards achieving these strategic objectives, WWFSA also works closely with a number of public and private sector partners, for example, Mondi, Woolworths, the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, The Greenhouse, Flower Valley Conservation Trust, Bulungula Incubator Project for integrated water resource management, amongst others. Across these internal programmes and in associate organizations related to WWF-SA work, placements are available in 2013 in the following conservation and sustainability areas of work. Placement opportunities 8.1 Freshwater: Promoting water security, alien clearing, wetland and riparian restoration, minimizing / mitigating the impacts of agriculture, industry and mining in collaboration with water users, government , conservation partners and, corporates. 8.2 Biodiversity Management for the protection of key species and landscapes, for example through sustainable harvesting, stewardship approaches, spatial planning, ensuring compliance.
