Quick Glance
Fri Feb 24. The Mayors Charity Concert:- The Guildhall 1

1. Feb 24, Friday The Mayors Charities Concert which kicked off with an almost full Guildhall. With Margaret Peters (left) as our lovely guest singer, she had the audience in her hands with lilting medleys familiar to all and, who joined in enthusiastically. 2. (Right) The Town Mayor Cllr Dr Tibbutt who is also our Patron, joined with WCB Chair, Emma Francis, MD Brian Hodgetts and Bookings Officer David Cottee for a photo shoot. Raffle and money sold from tickets went to The Mayors favourite charities Leukaemia Care, Noahs Ark and the Worcester Farmers Overseas Action Group. Comments from the audience were best weve heard, immensely enjoyable and when is your next one? Newsletters were taken up enthusiastically and we have seen new names joining our Friend & Supporters List. 2. Mar 23, Friday. WCB in Friends of St Richards Concert at Sacred Heart, Droitwich. It was a first that ALL tickets sold out! Some even brought in a folding chair to sit down. It was also pleasing to see many younger members coming to listen and, who looked to be enjoying the varied music and joining in with their parents. Margaret Peters. (Right) (Left) Brian our MD. St Richards Concert at Sacred Heart, Droitwich.

Cont..from front page.

After the interval, Band dress was relaxed with jackets off for many players in the packed hall with MD (Below) sporting a patriotic T shirt!. To embrace the mood of Proms night, flags decorated music stands and jaunty hats appeared on several players. (Left Margaret Peters led the audience with music from that era (this had been specially requested by the organisers). She paraded to the front wearing two huge Union Flags draped on her, poncho-style, raising a cheer from the audience. (Left) Welcome to David Brown who has joined WCB as Drummer when he is free from work commitments as well as his voluntary post with the Air Cadets as music instructor. David is also an accomplished Cornet player. This was his first performance with WCB. We look forward to having him with us again.

(Below) Tenor Horns: Peter Jones (Solo), myself and Annie Chaplin (2nd).

(Above right) Emma Francis on Euphonium. Emma also plays Trombone.

Gavin Erry (1st Trombone left).

Christmas with Nunnery Wood High School and Primary School

Late add-on: Nunnery Wood Schools invite WCB to join the Christmas School Christmas Concerts for the first time. We played at both the High School and Primary School for their end of year concerts. (Below) WCB playing with students from the respective schools a first for their Christmas School Concerts.

Just in: (Below) David Harris from Midlands Air ambulance (2nd from left back row) receiving his cheque for 600.00 raised from Christmas caroling events. WCB performed several sessions over the Christmas period at Strensham, Tesco (St Peters in Worcester, below) and round and about. The donations were generous and everyone came up and told us how much they enjoyed them. Mr Harris asked for everyone to be included in the photo when he came round on a Tuesday practise evening last month. (Below right) One of several sessions at Tesco. (NB: young starter in front!) Farewell sadly, to Mark Middleton (Centre Front) who joined us not so long ago but is now transferring to a new workplace in Derby! He hopes to join us again when he is back our way!
