VOL 3 ISSUE 8

Wrapping It Up
Deer Season Update!
SRO guides had been hard at it for the past month, when we welcomed in six hunters in, three bow and three rifle hunters. Of those six hunters, five went home with their tag filled. Four more deer were crossed of the HIT LIST as well. The rut was hot and heavy in early November when we had two bow hunters in. Mr. Bojangles was scratched off the HIT LIST during this hunt. The hunt was on to fill the second tag, but unfortunately the luck was on the deers side this time. Prior to the open of rifle season we had one bow hunter in. Mark was after a deer we calledBubba and quite a story ensued trying to get our hands on him. About 9 on Thursday morning, Mark had a shot on Bubba and his arrow missed his target but fortunately he did not seem spooked. Mark was back in the same place that afternoon and, sure enough, Bubba strolled onto the food-plot about 3 p.m. The arrow did not miss its target this time with a perfectly placed heart shot, Bubba piled up in the plot by 4:30. Saturday November 17th marked the beginning of the Oklahoma gun season and we welcomed in two new clients. We were prepared to hunt for five days but I guess our clients had another plan. By 9:30 a.m. on opening morning two deer were in the cooler - a great heavy horned 8 point scoring 127 and the elusive Big Nuevo who we have been chasing for two years. He scored 142 and appeared (based off trail cam pictures from last year) to have lost some inches, but nevertheless a great buck! We were able to take a week off, re-group and eat some turkey before we were back at it the Monday after Thanksgiving. We welcomed in Michael and Adam with Final Descent Outdoors. The chase was on after a deer named SpiderMan. So far he has given us the slip but hope to make him a movie star during a late season hunt! Our final client of the season had to battle unseasonably warm temperatures. The first weekend in December brought in record highs reaching close to 80 degrees, plus high southwest winds, not ideal December hunting conditions. Even with the terrible weather, Ty completed a Stuart Ranch Slam. Knocking down a hog, doe and a HIT LIST buck named BackGlass. Its been a great season. A big thank you to all of our clients!

Ty finished out the 2012 deer season by taking BackGlass off the HIT LIST

Scanning the Skies

The Oklahoma waterfowl season is currently on a break. The season opens back up this Saturday December 8th. Waterfowl season is one of our favorite times here at SRO. The latter part of December and all of January are spent scanning the skies for big groups of ducks and geese making their annual migrations to the Sooner State. There are currently still a few openings for duck, goose or combo hunt. Our hunts include lodging, guide service, decoys, blinds, cleaning and cold storage. The package costs $175 for a one day $300 for a two day and for every day after two is $150/day. If youre a die hard waterfowler or just a novice looking for a good time and way to keep hunting after deer season closes give us a call. If you have further questions or need more information dont hesitate to contact us. We are happy to help.
